Cogntive Dissonance

That has what`s happened the took us up to the edge of the cliff in this country.  Good people (or somewhat good people) doing nothing, just being fat dumb & happy.  Their pension checks come in, their stock market doesn`t crash, tenant raises the rent on himself and a new Lexus in the garage every year, trip to a different country every so often..."life is good, don`t make waves".

It`d be nice if that could continue, but a society in decline and the laws of economics haven`t been repealed, last I checked you still can`t spend yourself rich.

Re: Cogntive Dissonance

The only conclusion I can draw here is the same one you have been illustrating for the last 18 months. That nothing can bring on chronic, if not terminal, paranoia and fatalism more effectively than $3.00 coming off of the corn market.

It's more than "$3.00 off" corn, it's the entire scope of the economy. The new jobs report in May reflects the socialistic government impact. Only a handful of new jobs verses 50,000+ people leaving the workforce.

The blowback, will come at the ballot box. Folks will say to themselves , "Do I want more of the same??!?"

President Trump will begin the economic repair work, early next year.

Re: Cogntive Dissonance

Is the Donald proposing some sort of WPA or CCC sort of jobs programs?

Maybe he's in Charles Murray's circle of influence?

Erosion of position employment is natural to this changing economy.  Every diversified farm over a couple of hundred acres, unless there were a whole bunch of family members on it, had a "hired man" not so very long ago.

Big box retail store with 3 auto check-out lanes and 6 clerks had 9 clerks not so very long ago.

You'd know....what % of alfalfa hay is pit up in small squares anymore?  The baling crews around here are 1 man crews more than not.

Re: Cogntive Dissonance

Government mandates ( Obamacare ), regulations, and taxes are knocking growth to near nothing.

Even with automation of hay handling , the small square bale of hay is still king with the horse owners, that feed the two million head of equines.

When minimum wages double, robots will replace many people. Remember Don Kraft's famous quote?  "If you tax something, you're going to get less of it."

Re: Cogntive Dissonance

if you get your way with that attitude, the country as we know is doomed.  de-regulate everything, cut taxes, start more wars, can the poor and elderly because they don't work anyway, etc, etc.  your kind has all but totally ruined this country.
