As for "seeks to change" can I take what you say to mean that you (or maybe Sarah) would desire no ammendments to be repealled? Or are you saying that it only needs to be adhered to in it's original, pre-1st ammendment form? That the entire series...all of them..should be ignored by the enforcers of our laws and the courts?

 

Been hearing alot fo chatter about repeal of teh 14th form teh right. Where are you on that? Sam doesn't exactly say it, but it could be taken by some from what he does say that he'd prefer repeal of the various ammendments that have to do with sufferage for various folks and take it back to just property owners having the right to vote.

Amending the constitution IS adhering to the constitution in its original form - DUH!

 

The 17th is the first one I'd reverse.

Somewhat confirming what I said.

 

Might be tough to get a mega majority popular vote in 3/4 of the states from people voting on wether to to give up a piece of their popular voting powers though, wouldn't you think.

 

I just did some Wiki and found that one Senator has proposed repeal of the 17th in the rather recent past...Former Sen. Miller (D) of Ga. and it didn't get out of committee. So I wouldn't hold my breath.

The 14th was started to give black people rights and citizenship.   There is a big difference between the fact that the black were brought here not of their own free will.  This was a gift given to them to help with the wrongs done.  Citizenship to the greatest country in the world.  The 14th is now being abused.  Think about it Bruce, those folks are breaking the law so we have to enforce an amendment.  How can you call that constitutional?   It's like people think once they get in the US they are absolved of all wrongdoing. Then how can you turn away the mother or the father, that would be wrong to separate a family. 

I do beleive it should be repealed, we no longer have people here that are forced against their will to be here.  And if they are breaking laws to force citizenship they should be turned away.  Your spitting in the face of all the people who worked their a$$ off and risked their and their families lives to become legal citizens.

Section 1. All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, (illegal invaders are not within the jurisdiction of the United States, nor are their minor dependants... they are within the jurisdiction of their own home country)are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction (illegal invaders are not within the jurisdiction of the United States, nor are their minor dependants... they are within the jurisdiction of their own home country) the equal protection of the laws.

Section 2. Representatives shall be apportioned among the several States according to their respective numbers, counting the whole number of persons in each State, excluding Indians not taxed. But when the right to vote at any election for the choice of electors for President and Vice President of the United States, Representatives in Congress, the Executive and Judicial officers of a State, or the members of the Legislature thereof, is denied to any of the male inhabitants of such State, being twenty-one years of age, and citizens of the United States, or in any way abridged, except for participation in rebellion, or other crime (illegal invaders broke the law by entering our sovereign borders without due approval), the basis of representation therein shall be reduced in the proportion which the number of such male citizens shall bear to the whole number of male citizens twenty-one years of age in such State.

Section 3. No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any State, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any State legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any State, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof. But Congress may, by a vote of two-thirds of each House, remove such disability.

Section 4. The validity of the public debt of the United States, authorized by law, including debts incurred for payment of pensions and bounties for services in suppressing insurrection or rebellion, shall not be questioned. But neither the United States nor any State shall assume or pay any debt or obligation incurred in aid of insurrection or rebellion against the United States, or any claim for the loss or emancipation of any slave; but all such debts, obligations and claims shall be held illegal and void.

Section 5. The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.

I reprinted the entire 14th Amendment to the US Constitution for all to read.  I highlighted in red the parts of the amendment that excludes any illegal persons and their minor progeny from being included in that Amendment.  I also put the comments why they are excluded from being eligible for consideration under the 14th Amendment, including non-adult children born here.  The children belong to the parents, and therefore, their citizenship belongs with them.

I'd expect that in your familly tree that there would be people born here to immigrants who came by their own free will, not under subjugation, who weren't citizens at the time. Surely were in mine  But that is a different sstory and set of facts, I will admit, as they were obviously legally immigrated.

 

However, I'd ask if you are assuming that there is a large permanent mass of folks who have come here who would like to stay who would have no interest in working towards citizenship if offered the opportunity? I'd offer that most would, but that the current climate is keeping them closeted.

 

Much of the leadership in the more recent past on amnesty and paths to citizenship came from conservative politicians. It's hard to take this new breed of conservatism that is clammoring over tis issue seriously and as anything other than veiled racism, in light of that.

Don't you think offering them citizenship based on how they are going to vote isn't crappy?  Right now the economy and job situation is so bad, we don't have enough jobs for legals.  While that's not a good reason to turn them away, saturating an already bad economy with millions more needing hellp and jobs is asking for financial colapse.   I can't afford to support anymore people, Bruce.  I want to retire some day. 

Geez Bruce isn't your arm tired from beating on that race horse?  Your lucky PETA isn't here, they'd have you fined for animal abuse. Smiley Very Happy

That is why is purposely included his picture.  You are darn tootin' if this article was written by anyone that is not of African decent....you would see the "race card" flying around thicker than mosquitoes over a swamp.

  LOL, and while Milligan claims that the liberal agenda is hindered by the Constitution, he makes another post wanting to change that very Constitution. Of course it's nothing new though, his reasons are driven by his bigoted mentality, or what is commonly called the Selective Hyper Ideological Thought Syndrom.
