You are implying that all members of that council are on the left. Do you know that for a fact. Maybe they did it to try to ease tensions. You ever do anything like that? Maybe do something you wouldn't ordinarily do just to calm someone else down a bit? I have no idea why they did it and neither do you. For sure I doubt very seriously it was because they hate Christians. Oh, and for the record, I think you are a hateful, grumpy old fart.
Bart, it's pretty hard to follow his logic, not to mention how he employs it. First he condemns outdated and brutally violent Islamic laws and cultural norms, then he wants to mimic them and use the same violent behavior on his political and ideological enemies.
We are allegedly different. We are American and we claim to have freedom of religion. I suppose if one is religious ideologue he might cringe at the thought at their expression of faith in our homeland. I suspect their religious ideologues share your discomfort about alien religions in their land.
Where we differ is this country has decided not to discriminate against other faiths.
We have decided not to discriminate against them, they have not decided not to discriminate against us. The imam said it himself, if we do not let them have their way they will rise up and hurt us, either here or over seas. Are you willing to let them dictate how we live or how we conduct business?
Don't take the Imams words as a threat. He is mere informing you of what may be the consequences of our actions. We cannot control the reactions of irrational people. All we can hope to do is to not provoke them.
But I do not view granting them religious freedoms that all other Americans enjoy caving in to Islamic demands. Our law is our law. Their law is theirs. They may not like ours and we may not like theirs.
