Creeping socialism has changed gear.

The French have chosen a socialist president and the Greek have moved towards the same, rejecting the austerity moves by the previous mob.  If that trend moves over the ditch to the US, it appears Obama might be re elected.  Any thoughts?

No, if anything this will hurt Obama`s chances, because yesterday France made the decision to go the way of "Zimbabwe".  After the Euro crashes the US is in "chute #2" Germany will say "screw you all, we`re going on a gold standard!".   The US doesn`t always follow Europe on policies, take agriculture, over there they have their 100 acres, 2 brand new tractors, 1 month vacation...over here 30,000 acres, sheds full of 1100hp tractors, 60 row combines... We like things that are loud with alot of smoke "go big or go home".   Not very "European".  As far as "auterity" ...we are yet to try any Smiley Very Happy I doubt we ever will, until we can`t afford more ink for the money printing press, it`s already to the point that a nickel isn`t worth a red cent anymore.

This is when the central banks lower the boom. Nothing you have is your's it is all theirs and they are about to collect. Oh if only there were another Andrew Jackson. I hope irans first nuc lands square on Jekyll Island.

I think the US is different. Here we have substantial membership in a cargo cult that believes that if they elect a man with swiss bank accounts they will surely get one too.

The French and Germany are requesting The Greeks stick to the agreement made prior to the elections.  We will see.

Re: Creeping socialism has changed gear.

By what mechanism do you suppose greece will be able to avoid austerity? Are you saying that Obama'S reelection would bring more socialism?

Re: Creeping socialism has changed gear.

I don't think anyone could begin to imagine how the Eurocrisis and politcs within the eurozone are going to affect the elections here.  That's a long hot summer and more away.

As for France and Greece, I do think that you are a bit loose in your definitoins if you are going to say that came out of the democratic process in each of those nations were similar enough to be similarily described with one word (socialism).  What was determined as most desirable by the voters in each of them is miles apart.

The only thing that is for certain is that folks are ready to toss current leadership out on their ass.  Watch for major riots in Europe this summer.  The French well-to-do are sucking their assets out of France and putting into New Zealand as fast as they can.

*chuckle*  I have been busy driving school kids around to lots of spring/end of school year events and not had any time free.   School ends here in a couple of weeks.  I will then have time to catch up on things.   I am looking for something nice to send down to you from Iowa.... I haven't found the right thing yet.

The first thing that I am looking forward to, after school ends, ..... a normal Night's sleep!
