Culture war

http://news.msn.com/world/militants-order-female-genital-mutilation-in-iraq-un

Still want to defend Islam?

A good leader in America would empathcize how the best parts of Christianity made America the greatest country in the world, and what we are now up against, both domestically and internationally, as evil tries to take over the world. Jefferson saw this hundreds of years ago, as the pirates of the middle east extracted their toll on the world, including slavery, male castration, and piracy. He waited until we had enough ships and armaments to take out the scum, and rallied the American people behind his leadership.

Black muslims enslaving their African brethren and selling them to mostly white Americans was wrong, but those blacks did get out of Africa and their descendents have had a chance to become Christians and participate in the American dream. Black muslims should be deported as rabble rousers, for the betterment of American society.

Waiting until America has no chance is the same as suicide.

Re: Culture war

Your title said it best, 'culture'

Female genital mutilation is not a religious requirement but a cultural one.

In the case of ISIS it is male domination at its worst.

FGM was carried out before the Muslim religion existed indeed before christianity existed too.

Egyptians for one mutilated their female slaves long before present religions.

FGM is carried out by some christian groups as well as others not associated with islam.

So put the blame on the ISIS movenment and male domination of some societies rather than a religion.

BTW you will find that in many situations it is actually other females that push fo and carry out the mutilation.

You will also find that 'western' medicine used FGM as a medical procedure to 'cure' some problems in the past. Fortunatley that has stopped, I think.

And then of course there is the male genital mutilation that still occurs in many christian cultures.

Re: Culture war

I was in Hawaii a number of years ago, and four of us young, single WASP males were making our way towards the Honolulu night club scene and a very  scared Australian guy came towards us and said, guys, stop...don't go down that street...see what is going on there? and a half a block away a young black male had what looked like a gun on an elderly couple. We did not see that right away, and we laughed at the guy who then angrily cried out.....Hey, I am just like you guys (white is what I think he meant) Good Lord, listen to me!!!!)

Later that night, we were in a bar in downtown honolulu and on the way in a big burly Somoan bouncer told me, as I was the most tanned and darkest of the group, on the way in...Hey, I'm Big John, if you get into trouble tonight, yell out for me, man, and I will be at your side. Guess he thought I was kin to him possible because of my darkness and physical stature. The bar was full of both the most beautiful women in the world, and also the most angry looking Asian men you could imagine and I was glad to know that I had the bouncer on my side.

Later I read that Honolulu had the highest per capita murder rate of all US cities. Fools die, and we were fools that night but God looked after the stupid, at least that night. Whenever I hear the Don Henley song...Boys of Summer, I think of that week in Hawaii. To be young and dumb and out for fun again. Even in a place like Oahu that shows the limits of the melting pot theories.

The point is that when you wander away from your known culture, shiit happens, and mostly it ain't the good stuff. This episode made it seem like the split was along racial and color lines, but it could easily be religion like the Irish have illustrated, or the Shiites and Sunni divisions show.

To be American used to mean a certain mindset and a certain set of shared cultural mores....but the low info people have shaken the deck up and redealt the cards, and I certainly don't know how the hand gets played out. I know which way I am betting though, and hope my crystal ball is right.

At some point, we all have to figure out which side we are on.

Re: Culture war

Actually I believe the Australian...and I assumed he was an Aussie because of his accent...was clearer in what he said...He said...Guys, I am the same color as  you...listen to me!

And one of the terrible things about that incident was that we were all so self absorbed that we did not think of the safety of the couple...we did not call the cops...we did not do any of the things that normal human beings should do. We just wanted to ignore what was going on...which we did by walking over a block and continuing on .

Shameful.

Re: Culture war

All I know about Hawaii is according to my cousin and her husband that lived there a number of years is, there isn`t any opportunities for white people there.  Her husband has Polynesian inlaws and they flat out told them as much, there`s a glass ceiling for white people.  They moved out and have been doing quite well in their endeavors.  Whether or not we want to admit it, there is nepotism and to not recognize that fact you are at a tremendous disadvantage.
