Re: Right, except why should there be a cap

Good Idea to sieze BP's assets in the US and try to get the foreign stuff too, but I doubt if the bunch in DC will see the light and do it any near in time. Last number quoted to clean up the mess $20 billion, and climbing. I can forsee BP hurridly hiding assets and qroperties, then soon declaring BK. SCREW YOU AMERICANS!!!!

Re: Cure a lot of our problems by nationalizing

Making an example of them is purely secondary and not the purpose of justice- justice is that they make everything as right as they can

So long as we're not talking about a TBTF bank, huh 'nox?   Different TARP of justice there, huh?

You're not Don, he would only favor nationalizing other peoples property.

WTH??

How hard is it to become a property owner? You make it seem like that is some huge obstacle to overcome. Property comes in many other forms outside of a homesteaded farm. Maybe the fact that this is a farm forum blinds you to the obvious.

Re: Right, except why should there be a cap

$20 billion over multiple years isn't a big deal for BP- it actually makes a case for huge entities in the oil business- they easily have the resources to pay comp for this monumental screwup- in fact nobody with limited assets should be handling an operation with that degree of risk unless reinsured in some fashion.

Re: Cure a lot of our problems by nationalizing

No..it's not that hard. Actually was made quite the bit easier under the umbrella of the Bush "ownership society".

I was refering to how hard it would have been under the obvious fuedal systm that would have evolved with all of these amazing and ample resources that were lying about what became the entire U.S. had "the founders" decided that should be the case.

Actually, the worst of tehm tried...and the damned democracy thingie that they'd set up backfired on those who supported what you propose.
