Daughter and her family spent last night in toledo

Had to drink bottled water and the warned them they should use tap water for washing or bathing. I wonder if they got a discount on their room. Son in law is pretty frugal and a great negotiator.

They sent us a text picture of the state line of new york. I think they were happy to be there.Headed for niatgra falls. We have never been there but after seening all the video footage it would probably be a let down.

It's a huge letdown. The falls are magnificent but the area is one big blob of carney stands and trinket shops. If you do go it's much better from the Canadian side. And stay above the border for as much of the trip home as you can. Hamilton is a marvelous city.

Niagra Falls....slowly I turned...step by step...inch by inch....

The older among us might remember the reference. Hope they have a great trip.

I have never seen them from the US side but was impressed with the power of all that water as I stood there just metres away from it on the Canadian side.

Interesting to go down through the tunnels and stand under the falls with the water pouring past.

Then consider how little water goes over the falls now with what is diverted to make hydro.

Has been years since I was last there but slip into one of the hotels and take an elevator ride to the top and have a look.

I know only guests allowed beyond the first floors but maybe I will be a guest someday.

May be some extra happenings around the battle sites of the war of 1812-14 this year.

Queenston Heights on the Canadian side as well as the fort at Fort Erie where there were battles with the invading US troops might be worth checking if they are on the CAnadian side.

Remember they need a passport to get back into the US.

Bruce, I do believe it was Groucho Marx not the 3 Stooges.   But I've slept since I saw the routine last.

It is an old vaudville act and appeared on the Three Stooges, Abbot and Costello and I love Lucy, among others. My main memory of it is from the Stooges, but that's just because of my age.

Re: Daughter and her family spent last night in toledo

Ceazy thing I had that same  thought/doubt but was pretty sure it was The Stooges.  Googled it up:

Re: Daughter and her family spent last night in toledo

My apologies Bruce, you were right.  Thought I remember seeing the Marx Bros doing the same skit.  But then I called my wife a wrong name last night, so the knock on the head from the frying pan might have jumbled the memory some.
