I don`t believe in the "rapture".  Look Don, I could just drink my coffee and read a magazine during my break, I`m right with God, I knew these things were going to happen.  I wish they didn`t, we all had it so good, God blessed us and we some what followed God`s laws.  I guess I tell you these things with the hope perhaps one FFA kid reads these discussions and investigates what is said and on his own and comes to the truth.  I`ve had a good 1/2 century, if I die tommorrow, I`ll be happy, i just wish the younger people could also know the good life I`ve had.

You only followed the laws you chose to abide by.

If you followed them all you would keep slaves and stone people for frivolous excuses.

If you think rationally you would see how the laws YOU choose to follow are your laws not what some 'god' proclaimed.

If you actually did try following some gods rules you would be following them all not just choosing which ones you wanted to follow.

Your 'god' and beliefs are just an excuse.

If you had compassion you would accept everyone not try to discriminate against some using some of the rules in your bible as an excse.

BA  you can thank Reagan and the republicans for the demise of labor unions. When reagan came to power the relationship between management and labor was much closer. Today labors comparison to management salarys has declined 60%.

Republicans want to depress wages and benefits and you and I both know it. Your against pay increases even if youdon't have to pay it. Instead you would rather walmart pay minimum wage and force the taxpayer to take up the slack. How do you like subsidizing walmart to the tune of $2 or $3 per hour.

Since God sent Jesus to deliver us the latest word....What do you see in the Bible that Jesus had to say about it? What? What message did Jesus deliver us? TELL!

Jesus said let he among us without sin cast the first stone. He also said the way to salvation is through Him. All who believe in Him will have eternal salvation. Those who do not have already been lost.

BA is squirmy and I doubt he will come up with anythng that Jesus said unless he tries to wriggle around it like you did with your cast the stone thing which was about a woman accused of an extramarrital affair. He seemed to thing it was a forgivable sin, like many other sins. Jesus told us all what be abhored. He was rather specific, yet he never mentioned homosexuality. Perhaps you or BA can tell me what he said on the subject?

Jesus also to the woman caught in adultery that since no one threw any stones that He also did not condemn her. But then he said go but commit this sin no more.

Shifty, the day you cranked up the model T and drove to Mexico for dental work was the day you lost the right to say anything about how much anyone in America makes or what is fair.

Hey Canuck, this isn`t the first time you`ve asked that question and this isn`t the first time that i`ve answered it for you and the answer remains the same  🙂

The Bible does permit slavery, see after a war the victor had the expense incurred of fighting that war and the tribe that lost had their crops ruined, so the wise choice is make those that lost, into slaves.

However, the slavery that this country had wasn`t Biblical. See, they kidnapped people from Africa and enslaved them, if they had followed the Bible, they wouldn`t have done that. Also, if Biblical slavery was followed, every 7 years slaves were set FREE!

http://biblehub.com/leviticus/25-13.htm

But if it`s any consulation "prize", this country been cursed in certain ways because of it. Look at the welfare system, look at Detriot, look at the US president, look at who foolish women like Heidi Klum marry...so, yes this country has paid dearly for that sin of slavery, even though it`s residual from over 150 years ago.

You must use a different bible than I am familiar with.

Here is just one example of the rules about slaves and as i read it there is no doubt they are owned just like property no 'get out of slavery after 7 years' clause as they can even be inherited by your children after you.

Leviticus 25:44-46

New King James Version (NKJV)

44 And as for your male and female slaves whom you may have—from the nations that are around you, from them you may buy male and female slaves. 45 Moreover you may buy the children of the strangers who dwell among you, and their families who are with you, which they beget in your land; and they shall become your property. 46 And you may take them as an inheritance for your children after you, to inherit them as a possession; they shall be your permanent slaves. But regarding your brethren, the children of Israel, you shall not rule over one another with rigor.

What kind of god would think that sort of thing was OK?

Not one I would want to kneel down to, even if it existed.

Now I suggest you go and study that bible some more and you will find lots of other rules about slavery and how you can beat them as long as they do not die in a day or two.

And that does not include the case of killing all the people in occupied towns except the female virgins which 'gods' chosen could keep for sex slaves.

Like I said you only pick the rules that suit you!

So why not forget the bible and just set your own rules which is what you do anyway only you could not blame your god then for your choices but would have to accept responsiblity yourself, of course you are responsible now but you try to hide behind the bible and your 'god' rather than admit it even to yourself.

Are you trying to say the new testament changes the rules about slavery?

Is there anywhere in the whole bible that says what we all know something like 'slavery is bad and no one should ever own another human'?

There is of course timothy where christian slaves of christian masters are told to work even harder

1 Timothy 6:1-2

New International Version - UK (NIVUK)

All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God’s name and our teaching may not be slandered. Those who have believing masters should not show them disrespect just because they are fellow believers. Instead, they should serve them even better because their masters are dear to them as fellow believers and are devoted to the welfare[a] of their slaves.

Ephesians 6:5

New International Version (NIV)

Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.

The only correct words would be those that told you not to own slaves, that it is wrong and should never happen.
