The antichrist will have a good gig going, tickling the ears of those hearing what they want to hear.

The 'anti christ'

Another 'god' with no proof of existance.

For those of us living in reality your claims are so ridiculous all backed up by an old book with no evidence behind it.

Slavery is not wrong, according to the Bible, if it is followed according to the Bible.  One more time, if a tribe is defeated in war, the loser tribe owes the cost of the war to the winning tribe and they have to pay off their debt.  They are let loose after 7 years, if the winners didn`t take care of them they would most likely starve because they have just lost a war.

The slavery in early America was in no way according to the Bible and we are still to this day paying for that sin.  And I could argue that that sin is a major reason why this country will fail, look at the history of Haiti  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haitian_Revolution    Maybe in this country we were taken over more "peacefully" but the end result looks the same .

Re: My goodness BA

When I read in the New Testment, in Matthew 5:17-20 Jesus is saying this,

The Fulfillment of the Law

17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

My thoughts are what is the law Jesus is talking about. I believe it is the law in the Old Testment. In Leviticus chapter 18 talks about what is wrong. Jesus came to uphold the law. Read through Leviticus to see what Jesus is saying to stay away from.

I hope you have a great day!

You said it!

That is what I have been saying, your bible does not say it is wrong while we all know it is wrong to own another human.

Now you can keep making excuses and ignoring the fact that to own another human is Ok in some situations but your bible allows slavery, does not condemn it AND even allows you to beat them as long as they do not die for a day or two.

So why do you wish to worship a 'god' like?

BTW you will notice that your bible commands them to kill all, that is right all even babies, but female virgins which they can keep for sex slaves when they attack other cities.

No worry about them starving.

Quit worrying about the 'sin' of past generations.

What kind of caring 'god' would punish you for something your ancestors did?

I would be looking for a god that did not do that sort of thing if I needed a god to make my life complete.

Read your good book for what it says and quit trying to make excuses for the brutality that is written in there.

There are a lot of laws in the old testament that most people completely ignore because they can see how they are not good compassionate laws.

Laws like stoning people to death for frivolous excsuses.

I personally would not think stoning anyone to death or killing them in other ways is right but certainly not for the little things called for in the bible.

Fortunately most people create their own 'gods' in their heads and can get rid of those bad rules.

The law teaches us it is impossible to keep for if you break one letter of the law you break the whole of the law and one is therefore lost. If you were to keep to every letter of the law you would be saved but that is an impossibility. The law teaches us the only possible way to salvation is through the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be all glory and honor. Thank you for your great posts Jim. You are truely an inpsiration to me.

Re: My goodness BA

Canuk - Hmmm...You took my words out of context twice and made some assumptions about what I wrote that are simply not true, but such is the nature of posting and replying on such forums. It takes either essays or consversation to really discuss such a subject. You can put me in the believer category, but I have never forced my religion on anyone and I seldom wish to discuss it in person or public. BA, 3020 and their brothers in sync are very displeased with my viewpoints. Heck, just read what "good ole" BA posted about me when he replied to you!

Here's our deal - I won't push any of my beliefs on you and you will not push any of your beliefs on me. We are both free to comment and discuss of course, when appropriate. There are no "steps" involved here and I am not brainwashed, so please keep your tone to that end and point out all the hypocracity you will. We simply have divergent beliefs. So, let's keep it civil and non-accusatory between us.

Some day, I would like to discuss Buddhism with you, but not here and now.

Re: What is obvious Canuck

Is the authors of scripture were  self righteous old pharts just like the folks that promote them.

The same old same old superiority complex and they wrote down scriptures to confirm and promote their ideals, not gods. Religion is a business, always has been and they will sell you soup whether it is good for you or not.

The scripturtres of matthew Mark Luke or John were not written by the apostles as bibical scholars would have you beleive. In fact the authors never had a personal experience with the Messiah as you were led to believe.

It's all a scam, much worse than any other visited upon humanity. And these godly men expect free men to accept their dogma as divine inspiration.

He is very good at taking words out of context, and ery good at not wanting to listen to any explanation that does not fit his requirements. It is best just to leave him alone rather than feeding his ego. He thinks he wins.

Re: What is obvious Canuck

Actually the Bible does go against slavery. You need to keep in mind when it was written and many people were slaves, indentured servants, what have you. So people are being told to show the love of Christ, not by rebeling against your masters but working for them as God was your master. Yet Christ told us there are only two laws. Love the Lord you God with all your heart, and love your neighbor as yourself. If you would not want to be a slave then do not make someone else a slave. If Christ would have come out and said slavery is illegle, than there would have been an uprid=sing and many hebrews would have been killed needlessly. Sometimes change takes place slowly.

BTW when Christ died on the cross the old covenant (testament laws) died with Him, and the new covenant was formed.
