That is luck not planning.

the time to have kept Ebola out of other countries was when it first started many months ago.

there were warnings that without help the local governments did not have the resources to fight it but 'we' the world ignored those plees for help so now we will spend much more with far greater losses to correct for our inaction.

Better planning is needed before the next SARS, Ebola or some new outbreak happens.

Worldwide planning!

Re: Ebola

A lot of criticism but very lacking on solutions! What do you suggest being done? Why were funds cut in half about 10 yrs ago to the CDC and NHI which virtually stopped research on a cure? Our govt is taking steps to try to stop it at the source which is what will have to be done. The old football maxim of "a good defense is a good offense" is what is needed IN AFRICA!

First thing that needs to be done is, stop all flights out of Liberia. NO ONE leaves that place. Take needed supplies in but, nothing leaves.

When has anything been cut in this country in the last 15 years. There may been have cuts in the rate of growth but, no actual cuts.

Nothing was cut. The money was spent on progressive crap like a study to figure out why lesbian are fat. It was lost to waste and fraud.

OH for frckin chrsit on a cracker, have you thought your little plan through ?

You would deny American citizens who are over there preaching, medicating, or are there for Political, Military  or business reasons their right to return ??

People can jump to  Paris or toronto and then come, are you going to Shut the entire global air travel down ???

How will the supplies get there ? By who ? People can take them but not come back ?

Nothing has been cut ?   Really ??   Were you " home skooled " ?

You cant just make crap up because you want it to be true.

Re: Ebola

Stopping flights to  Liberia will do nothing if we are going to allow people to fly to Cleavland and back while they are contagous.

Pick who you want to blame for this massive screw up but there are going to be lots of dead people here soon..

Re: Ebola

Correct, no one leaves the country till everyone either dies or is no longer infected with Ebola. Now, it is in this country and we are spreading it around. Pretty stupid.

This from Dr. Lee Hieb

snip;

Several weeks ago, I stated that the disease would not be a problem for America if we controlled transportation into th.... In other words, I suggested that we stop anyone from entering the United States whose travel originated in areas of Africa affected by the outbreak of Ebola.

This seemed a simple and obvious measure given the nature of this deadly disease. Sadly, our government failed to do this. Ironically, we are cautious about bringing potentially infected plants or animals into our country, but don’t seem to think deadly human diseases deserve the same scrutiny.
