Electric more expensive than petro
Plus they still have their carbon foot print.
Rapid charge points used by motorists topping up on long drives are now nearly £10 more expensive than filling up a car with petrol, the RAC revealed last week.
But research from the AA published on Monday finds that recharging an electric car even using a slow public charger at peak times can be more expensive, per mile driven afterwards, than for refuelling a comparable petrol car.
Jack Cousens, the AA’s head of roads policy and recharging, said: “While pump prices are falling, electricity prices are going in the other direction, but we are hopeful prices could tail off later this year.”
Previous analysis by motoring organisations has showed the cost of charging electric vehicles has soared in recent months, driven by rising energy prices partly triggered by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine last Februaryhttps://t.co/bsHoR2Rbof

Re: 3020, you idiot, read the F***'n article.
It said, "while charging at peak rates." Anyone knows that Britain relies too much on natural gas to generate electricity especially when demand is high. Even here in the US, electricity generated by nat. gas "peakers" was $300/ MWh compared to $60/ MWh even before the run-up in nat. gas prices in 2020. And everybody is aware of the gas supply crisis in Europe & Britain, especially in Britain because Britain chose not to import more LNG.
If you got any complaints, take them up with Rishi Sunak at question hour in Parliament.

That's right trickyDick. You have to burn fossil fuel to charge the batteries. Plus you have to burn fossil fuels to mine the precious metals to make the batteries. But to off set that carbon foot print you can always just eat bugs.

People probably said the same thing when cars first made their appearance. Lot cheaper to feed a horse than buy gas back then

Re: "Carbon footprint", if only ...
... we could get rid of your carbon footprint.
You can say what you want, I'm still saving $2.90 per gallon equivalent even with gasoline at $3.45 per gallon.

A quality product will sell itself. It does not need a mandate.

Danged to near every town in the country had a harness shop or shops or liveries that were big players in that community and were shut within a couple of decades when the cars came along.

Re: Car is just a fad
Who is declaring or enforcing any “mandates” on the energizing of vehicles anywhere?
I love reviewing laws and rules and ordinances and such. I worked closely with them for a number of years and am always fascinated by how they are crafted in one area of a state or the country to another. Have you got an example where one mandating electric vehicle powering has been codified and subject to enforcement?
