Ethanol, for it, against it...???...

So before Scott Walker went to Iowa with Presidential aspirations he didn't think highly of the Ethonol mandates, now recently he climbed on the band wagon to gain favor obviously and played you all into loving him. He hired an aide named Liz Mair recently,
She does not think highly of you Iowa corn farmers, based on the tweets she sent out.
The Iowa GOP is up in arms about her. Scottie can't be that dumb....

Oh, yes he is, RJ. This college drop-out doesn't know the first thing about what the middle class, working poor need to survive, what's worse he doesn't care.

Sorry RJ. Hadn't seen this when I posted the link to the TPM bit on Ms. Mair.

It isn`t uncommon that a conservative has a problem with that "mandate" word.  I find it funny that some folks are bothered about ethanol "mandated" to be used in gas as necessary oxygenate.  We have all sorts of other really stupid mandates like the damned seatbelt (revenue) law, but it`s just the world that we live in.

In the perfect world consumers would understand Ethanol`s bennefits and demand it, but Big Oil doesn`t want to give up even 10% of the nation`s fuel supply that they had been using their dangerous MTBE oxygenate.  Then you have the farmer haters that can`t stand a above breakeven price for farmers...all those idiots write letters and make phone calls to the politicians, so a office holder really needs a strong BS detector to avoid being corrupted.

Give me 1/2 hour of face time with Governor Walker and I`ll win him over pro-ethanol forever.  The candidates that I like Rand Paul and Ted Cruz are anti-ethanol, I think that the deep troubles that this country faces, they are the only one`s that are even partly on the right track.  And if me giving up ethanol as a trade off for doing everything else right, I will gladdly make that sacrifice.

Re: Ethanol, for it, against it...???...

Apparently Jebbers didn't have much to offer the ethanol crowd at the Iowa Ag confab either.

Interesting. Really perplexing. While I've been critical of the specific construction of the ethanol policy, once government has diverted a vast amount of capital toward that project, it is pretty stupid not to use it.

On the other hand, the ethanol lobby will always want MOAR, which isn't going to happen either. The problem now at hand is the imminent destruction of vast amounts of capital which was mobilized to high cost oil production.

BTW, the ultimate success of the national ethanol venture is still a bit tenuous going into this crop season. We need to build some more buffer stocks to keep from going back on the edge of supply shortage. Which won't make farmers happy, but there is also an elaborate corporatized LDP structure in place to keep it from becoming a bloodbath.

If we'd happen to have a 2012 season, the ethanol project as we know it remains at risk.

Ethanol is an exceedingly blunt and cumbersome tool for the purpose of supply management.

Right, I don`t like mandates, but as I pointed out there are mandates all over the place.  If that is the game that we have to play and Ethanol is a proven SAFE alternative to Big Oil`s MTBE ...well??? It makes sense to USE THE SAFE MANDATE IN THAT CASE, right?

Re: Ethanol, for it, against it...???...

The part I can't figure out is "The evil oil companies" -"  People bitch and moan all the time but when they have a chance to buy fuel from farmers we are a bunch of no good sobs too. I guess people just like to bitch.

At todays below cop corn prices maybe we should just give it to them.
