Every Minute
of every hour, of everyday, it seems that Republicans work to come up with hot topics, to get people pissed off. They give you a snapshot, and go, "SEE, SEE here - it's terrible, just like I said."
Obamacare. If you listen to the Republicans, listen to our so called president, you would THINK that it IS THE INSURANCE PLAN the covers most everyone in America.
So, what are we actually talking about? 320 million people live in America. How many are covered by the provisions of OBAMACARE?
Listening to the so called president when he was campaigning - 100%, because he was claiming that EVERYBODY'S health care, was going to increase. As I was on here saying during the election, mine, and some others that chimed in, our costs went up very, very little.
So how many, percent of the population? How about this - 10 to 11 million people are covered by OBAMACARE. That amounts to roughly 3.5% of America. 3.5% that are actually covered under this program. But here it was - a hot button topic, that the Republicans were able to exploit, and piss people off about. And people never go out, and do the work it takes to find out just how much these people are lying to the American people. And it's a continuous feed of this stuff, to get people angry. People make mistakes when they are angry, scared and stressed. And that's the state Republicans want the American people in.
Look at the campaign....it was campaign of fear. They are exploiting a human weakness to the max. And it works...it works every election.
OK - back to Obamacare. Of that 3.5% of the American population that's on Obamacare, many get credits to help offset the cost. We know a family in Oklahoma City - very poor - and their Obamacare policy was costing them $125.00 after the credits they got - and they were complaining about how high their health insurance was. See, it's all a matter of perception.
The Republicans - what were they saying during the election? We all heard it. EVERYONE's HEALTH CARE WAS GOING TO GO THROUGH THE ROOF!!!!! Guess what? Mine didn't. 96.5% of Americans probably didn't. But we have a group that is very vocal, and they don't really lie, when they put a lot of this stuff out. They only tell the portion of the truth that they want you to see, even if, like Obamacare, it really is a very small part of the whole.
Today for example. BA is on here, getting everyone pissed off about the babies in Arizona that are paid for by Medicaid. "My God - we have to do something!!" Again - hot button - made to piss people off. Because, these Republican's know, that America is going to associate Arizona with Mexican babies, and we're paying for all the illegals, and certainly this is all the fault of Obama.
I took one state at random. Michigan. At the end of President Bush's term, 43% of babies were paid for by Medicaid. At the end of Obama's term, it was 44%.
http://www.mlive.com/news/index.ssf/2017/03/medicaid_pays_for_44_of_michig.html
But that's how they do it people. Can't you see - that you that have drank the Kool aid that these people give you, are leading you by a nose ring. And you don't even know it. And Allen, if your reading this....that's you. You don't go beyond what you've been fed. You don't dig farther into the facts, because, "You know it all". You know what you have been fed. And you are being fed constantly, a constant push out of partial facts, to keep people like you pissed off, and not thinking for themselves.
And they have done this for years. For many years, they were able to rely on the abortion issue. Lost that. Then the Gay marriage issue. Lost that. Then the Tranny issue, the bathroom issue, the health insurance issue, the illegal's issue. And this last election, it was ALL of them, because they needed ALL OF THEM to get our so called president elected, and then barely so.
Until we as Americans wake up, and see what these people are doing on a continuous basis to the populace of America, we will keep getting stooges in place of a president. And when we actually do have a president that is worth something, that cares about the people and the environment, the Republicans do everything they can, to flush him down the toilet.
Yes - America is in trouble. But it's not for the reasons the Republicans are stating. It's because we are being fed information, that is not the truth. And won't take the steps necessary, to see what is actually the truth.

Re: Every Minute
The trouble with Obamacare is no one lives in a vacuum, if you pay health insurance of go to the doctor rich or poor you have been negatively affected by Obama`s lies. For "rich people" out here the lines are longer, the premiums twice or three times higher, the deductibles higher, more out of pocket expense. For "poor people" out here they always did go to the ER and the hospital ate the bill and they still do...after all if you always cut to the front of the line at the ER why make an appointment like everyone else and wait a week?
The "39 million uninsured" that were supposed to get covered never happened and missed the mark by half, ironically if the 39 million all did get covered, we`d have been in a hell of a mess sooner. Smart liberals at the time Obamacare was passed solely by Democrats would quietly confess that O-care does nothing to lower healthcare costs and wouldn`t work, but they "hoped it would some how work out". What we had pre-2008ish was the best it was ever going to get, but a army of liberals with hammers were elected that saw everything as a "nail" that needed pounded.

Re: Every Minute
Just keep putting out your Kool aide BS that's provided to you by "the party". And I'll be here, every step of the way, saying why you are so wrong.
Your agenda is one solely for your own best interest, not that of the country. Yet you come across as, "Follow me to the promised land, and I will bestow upon you all the wealth that I have acquired in this lifetime." BS...it's all BS, always has been, always will be.
You can put up all the meme's you want. The real stupidity, is in anyone believing anything you say on here.

Re: Every Minute
I was told by our so called president, the I would pay a "fraction" of what I was paying. It was a lie. And if I were to pay a "fraction", I would have gotten a "fraction of a fraction" of the health care I have now.
I don't open links...no, I don't. I learned enough by working for Raytheon how dangerous clicking on innocent looking links are. And I know enough, that there are multiple people on here, like yourself, that would love to take me, my computer, or both, out of commission.
I read what I want to read. Not some piece of propaganda BS that's shoved down my throat. Our president, and you, and others on here by association, are as big a liars as he is.
And I try to not associate with people that have lied to me....

Re: Every Minute
All I know is before the ACA my health insurance was $118/mo with a $1000 deductable at age 55. Now with o-care my premium is $1000/mo with a $750 deductable at age 60. I can't really see how it helped that much. Same company-Anthem. LIE PERIOD.
I'm glad the deal didn't pass yesterday because the Repubs had 4 years to come up with something but didn't. IMO they are just as stupid as the DEMS.
Dear GOVT.

Re: Every Minute
If your health insurance plan already included all these things, then your health insurance plan was possibly not impacted much by ACA requirements for the 10 essential benefits. Many policies included most of these, yet previously charged deductible or shared cost for prescriptions, lab tests and preventive services, for example, thus their premiums increased to cover the added cost portion paid by insurance, as required by the ACA. Of course, until actual experience reflected usage statistics, insurance companies likely had to assume that everyone would take advantage of all the benefits available to them, plus of course, additional health care and insurance paperwork and profits, etc.
To comply with the ACA, every health insurance plan sold on the exchanges or provided by employers had to include these benefits -- here’s the the list of the 10 essential benefits, as defined by the ACA:
- Outpatient care
- Emergency room visits
- Hospital treatment for inpatient care
- Prenatal and postnatal care -- that is, maternity care preceding and after birth of baby
- Mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment, counseling, and psychotherapy
- Prescription drugs
- Services and devices to aid in recovery in case of injury, disability or chronic condition. This includes physical and occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, psychiatric rehabilitation, and more.
- Lab tests
- Preventive services, including counseling, screenings, and vaccinations and care for managing chronic disease.
- Pediatric services, including dental and vision for children
This was from a CBS news article that I was unable to link. The underlined or highlighted links to healthcare.gov appear to work.
The biggest hits on premiums were on the individual policy plans, not the retirement, or employer-based, or other group plans. This was likely mostly due to the insurance companies taking on new individual insureds with pre-existing conditions, and a limited pool across which to spread the new costs. Some companies (like Assurant Health) simply decided to discontinue their individual health policies, which affected around 1 million individual policy customers, including me -- 20-some years of paying premiums on a good, continuous policy, etc., didn't matter.

Re: Every Minute
Rawhide, once again, you give us a snapshot of what you want us to see.
How about the whole picture...as in:
What did your previous plan actually cover? Was it one of the BS plans, that only covered a few things...and no the 10 items such as meds, surgical procedures, and the other 8 items that the Republicans were going to kill in the final draft yesterday. That insurance, is the insurance it doesn't pay to have, if you ACTUALLY GET SICK!!!
What would've been the cost of your previous plan, now that you are 5 years older? And - what would it have covered then?
Your not comparing like deductibles. Without that, it is difficult to make a like comparison...another "trick" Republicans love to use.
The Republicans actually had 7 1/2 years to come up with a plan. Which they touted, all along, that they had. Just like our so called president....you were lied to.
I don't get my health insurance by free, by any means. I know some of you think that, because I'm a retired government worker.
I pay about $500.00 a month for my BC/BS with a $750.00 deductible, and a $10,000 catastrophic coverage. From 2008 to 2012, I maxed out the catastrophic each of those years. So, you pay more than me, but I have been paying into this same plan since I was 25 - so I paid into the plan for 27 years, before I really needed to use it. For you - I doubt you paid anything for many years when you were younger.
Like I said before, maybe what needs to happen, is that for you people on Obamacare, that you guys somehow have to get together, and make a group plan that you can get coverage under. Mine is cheaper, because, simply, it's a group plan, that I was FORCED TO PAY when I was young. But now, it's paying out the benefits.
If you don't want to pay for the insurance, then don't. But then, don't complain when you become ill, and don't go to the emergency room for treatment, when you have no intention - or know you can't, or won't ever be able to pay. Because, then I'M PAYING FOR YOUR LACK OF PLANNING FOR OLD AGE.
Tick Tock....BONG!!!!!
