Re: Exceptional, from the UK
As I said about 10 months ago "Covid 19 has one hell of a press agent" that was the catalyst a clog in the wheel to replace Trump with a Marxist Democrat. Truth be told, Trump is about as far from a fascist on the spectrum as one could get
See, today`s Democrats want globalism, open borders, some "great minds" in Brussels telling those of us in Good Thunder, Minnesota how to live.
If you damned fools can learn only one thing from me, git out your bi-focals and study the hell out of THIS

Oh so true, right BA?
Not all of us that post on here have monetary gain for racking up numbers of apologetic posts towards socialism as SD Holloway or have an unnatural affection for the totalitarian nation of China such as you, Rick. Some of you just like free stuff. But do you care that Karl Marx the author of the communist movement had a very similar world view as today`s Democrat party?
If farm subsidies are socialism is very debatable, both sides have points. The US cheap food policy (US food cheapest in the world, just a pure fact). Food security and affordability aren`t in the top 20 of political issues, if it weren`t for "socialist farmers" on the race to the bottom, I would argue the United States would be introduced to the food insecurity that Europe saw cira WWII. Basically the BTO putting old family money on the line and his homecoming queen wife and their hiredmen getting the corn planted in a 3 day break in the spring monsoon season and harvested by Armistice Day blizzards pulling off Herman Warsaw yields. It provides below the cost of production feed stuffs for the cattle feeders and piggy barns. We have the most obese "poor people" on the planet because you can buy 50¢ a pound bacon and Twinkies with you food stamps. The "socialist farmers" are hosts in this symbiotic relationship.
What I learned from Hogan`s Heroes is the FIRST duty of a POW is to escape.
Of course they are socialism. Duh.
Except in the MAGA dictionary where Free Stuff isn't socialism if the right people are getting it.
But it is communism if the wrong ones are.
It`s easy to digress into ridiculous arguments of "You drive on rooooads, don`t ya? Then yer a socialist! Do you call the soooocialist fire department is yer house is on fire??? Then yer a socialist! Now gimmee yer money and don`t touch mah freeee stuff!!" as we`ve recently seen on recent threads on here. Like George Washington and slave banger Thomas Jefferson would`ve had a problem with highways and firemen.
Just because America successfully walked the tightrope of a little socialism and unbridled capitalism for 240 years does not give full license to go total Karl Marx just because our taxes go to firemen salary and public streets. Somewhere common sense was lost.
The New American Gothic
ok, I bit and got as far in the article boritz posted to when the talk about caging kids came up and had enough. Obama cages, remember folks? ok.
as far as nutz goes.....I think about the movie Family Man, Nic Cage, goes back to a road crossed and not taken....gets to redo his life...have the good woman, kids, etc, and this loser at work ends up with his high stress, high reward position and the Cage character tells him that he always figured he had the ability to be more of a man.
Makes me think of nutz, the high school football hero, the valedictorian, scion of a farming operation of several hundred acres....what could he have been? Instead, we see a pitiful end to his life...what happened? what did he lack?
Hard telling when that halcyon day was when America was Great but in the '50s marginal tax rates were much higher, estate taxes were outright confiscatory, subsidized college was exceedingly cheap, etc.
Since 1980 we've continually channeled wealth and income to the higher strata. Far more of the loss of middle class security has been owing to those various processes than to free trade, which "agriculture" has supported at every turn.
Although the rich guys raked it in from that, too- a lot more than Chinese and Mexican workers have.
I've written your two step pivot off on the side- see how I do.
