Re: BA's "yay death" crack, ...
I wonder if BA understands that his "yay death" crack could easily be interpreted as mocking God. Now, I'm not overly superstitious but I don't think somebody who brags about going unvaccinated should go out of his way to tempt divine chastisement.

Re: Speaking of "mocking", ....
Speaking of "mocking", for months now, DeSantis has been mocking every mitigation measure from wearing a mask to more recently vaccines themselves. Look at where it got him now, over half the counties in Florida report over 50 new cases per 100K residents per day. Not nearly as bad as Louisiana with its 100-150 cases per day but climbing fast.
It seems like a little humility on DeSantis's part would be in order but don't count on it.

Florida Coronavirus Map and Case Count - The New York Times (nytimes.com)
I see where NYT has the data, don't know why some other sites didn't.
At this rate, FLA will top the 7dma case number peak in about a week.
Different profile of patients might suggest a lower death rate but the trailing data doesn't really support that.
I'd guess there are something like 5M wholly naive people in FLA and the majority pf those are children. Still, could easily kill off an additional 25k folks, or so.

Re: Amazing, in Jan. .....
It's amazing in Jan, Florida maxed out at just over 19,000 new cases per day with local mask & distance mandates in place. Yesterday, with mitigation measures not just suspended by actually made illegal, Florida hit 38,300, twice as high.
5 million vulnerable. guess again Florida has 21.5 million (2019 nos.) with 49% fully vaccinated which leaves 10.9 minus 2.5 million total previous infections with some overlap between previous infections & vaccinated, so there are all of 8 million potential naive hosts to infect, sicken and kill.
