Re: With regards to negative vaccine effectiveness, there is a fatal flaw

Jones's method of calculating vaccine effectiveness fails to take into account the proportion of the unvaccinated group who have been previously infected.

The UK Public Health Service (PHE) has collected antibody data from the blood donor supply for both S-protein and the N-protein thus are able to determine whether a person has been vaccinated but not infected or just infected.  Their latest work shows that has been either vaccinated or infected has increased steadily or time to a high of 97%.  The percentage of people who have been naturally infected (& may or may not also vaccinated) ranges from 10% for older Britains to a high of 27% for young adults (ave. 18%).

Furthermore, about 79% of UK residents have been vaccinated, obviously more older, fewer younger.  79% plus 18% is 97%, which matches the serological very closely.

It is reasonable to assume that a high percentage of previously infected individuals have so far avoided getting vaccinated.  So you can see what happens,  As more & more people get vaccinated the proportion of unvaccinated people who already have natural immunity increases dramatically.   If half the unvaccinated already have natural immunity it would completely explain the negative effectiveness.

Finally,  the highest infection rates among the vaccinated observed for the 40-49 age range was 1150-1250 per 100,000, which is 11-12%, is well within the range expected give the 60% effectiveness for the Astro-Zeneca and the 95% effectiveness for Pfizer vaccines.

In other words, negative effectiveness is hogwash!

Re: Al, do us all a favor, ....

The nature of fascist like you Rick is to censor people.   Al is correct to bring up the fact that now they are pushing a 4th shot "just for the immunocompromised".    I think everyone remembers when the third shot was "just for the immunocompromised".    You got the third one right Rick?

Each jab is a risk event.

Re: Iceland, oh come on, ....

Speaks for itself.   Interesting how what looked to be over the hump is turning up again.   I'm sure you can find a covidians to cook you up an excuse why that is Rick.

Re: Iceland again?

Iceland again?  They used AstroZeneca which is only 60% effective against infection but 90% effective against hospitalization.  Iceland has 78% of adults vaccinated, not 100%, which means there's still 22% of adults not vaccinated, to say nothing of all the children. And they mandate masks & social distance.  And finally, they've only had 3 people die since Jan.  I'll take it

You have to wonder Craig if the light will ever come on?  Already people have been given their 4th shot.  The vax has only been available for less than a year.  Averages out to 1 every 3 months.  Which graphs of efficacy I've seen is about right.  To stay at vax peak immunity they'll need it every 3 months.   I know the manufactures are not researching it, but some one should study what the release of the spike proteins throughout your body that often does to a person.

As someone who has never once had the flu vax and nearly never had the flu this seems extreme to me.

My brother’s prediction is coming true -- vaccine increases severity of the disease by triggering cytokine storm.

Re: Iceland again?

Or ........... A new variant, huray, we are so lucky,  So you work on a name and I'll go down to South Africa and get the variant , bring it home so we can distribute a shot of it to everyone.  This is better than the election year shake down.

Re: Iceland again?

The vac manufacturers say they can have a custom shot for the variant out in 100 days.   So you just got your booster, 3 months later you can get the big O booster.

When you're sitting there getting the shot does it cross your mind that this could be the time the clerk at the CVS dumps it straight into a vein?
