So basically you're willing to live as a subject so long as the goodies are sweet enough. Our country was founded with the thought that everyone is created equal. The thought that someone is inherently the ruler of all others is so repugnant that I would hope no offer of goodies would entice the populace to submit fealty to nobility.
I am willing to live under a parliamentary system of government we therefore need a 'Head of Government' for our Prime Minister to work with parliament under.
The Queen fits the bill nicely do you have a better idea?
Some in our country have/do propose a Presidential system like yours but what would we gain? At present the Conservative party is in power with the most seats so we have Mr Harper their leader as Prime Minister but they do not have a majority of seats so they have to tread carefully to prevent the other parties from voting them out of power.
Now how would a President help this situation if he/she was elected and maybe from one of the minority parties.
There are advantageous and disadvantageous of both systems but any disadvantageous of ours is not worth rioting over and I am sure there are lots of people in Canada who might think it worth rioting to rid themselves of presidential system.
Me, I will let you worry about the parts of your system that do not work well.
Long Live the Queen.
BTW have you heard the news of the future wife for our future King?
And they are going to tour Canada in June

I suspect you're correct, red. A certain inherited need to be ruled, owned. The mix of French up there certainly doesn't help the genome either.
Are you suggesting you do not need to be ruled?
Then why do you not riot in the streets to get rid of Washington, State government, Local government and make it every man and woman for themselves.
No one should be ruled in your world.
Me, I will gladly accept the order that a good government can bring to peoples lives.
BTW I only have a little French in my genetics from many generations ago and that man either chose to move here or was forced by your countymen to leave.
Either way I do not think it makes any difference to my thoughts today.

Looks to me like the kid beat the system and performed the impossible. He found somebody even more attractive and graceful than his Mom.
Big shoes for her to fill as an icon. I've always felt Diana was the most human human that I'd ever observed.

They make an attractive couple.
Just hope it works out better for them than it did for his parents.
I have said she has to be almost mad to take on that job, because it is a job 24/7, to marry into that position.
They have been together long enough and the media has for the most part allowed them to live a 'normal' life so now they are going to become public figures.
I wish them well.

Re: canada
You spend a great deal of time posting your thoughts about our system, and you tell me not to worry about yours.
But anyhow, "our future king" , how barbaric. The thought of saying that fills me with disgust. Hardly better than India's caste system. Are you required to kneel before these nobles? Does Canada pay any kind of tribute to the monarchy? Is the monarchy the true owner of all of Canada? I know Canadians aren't stupid surely you can come up with a government that is not headed inherently by a foreign monarch.

Re: canada
Ok use the interpretation of the word your way but it does not change the fact your President has power over you and what you do.
Our figurehead Queen (or King) has no power over us.

Not sure what I have said about your system.
Sure we could change but there is no advantage to it.
Why throw out something that is working.
Our cost of the Monarchy is when they visit and the cost of the Govenor General who is the working head of our government but still mostly figure head with power over when Parliament can operate with who in charge.
When Parliament is disolved for what ever reason the Queen and the Govenor General are needed to continue government until the next Parliament is convened and Prime Minister decided with his/her government.

Re: canada
Hey Canuck, our president has only as much power as the people decide to give him or her. Obama was given alot of power in `08 with a veto proof, filibuster proof House and Senate. My, my how things change within two years the Democrats squandered away their power and Obama has been neutered, in the next two years Obama will be unemployed, jioning the ranks of the 20% real unemployment rate. Canuck, if your ancestors left America under unfavorable circumstances and you`re still holding a grudge, with all due respect all the critques of the US have to be taken with a grain of salt. In my county the courthouse is located on the southern border, those in the center and western side b!tch and moan to this day. Even though the courthouse was sited by the main river 150 yrs ago, great grandkids still are fueding about it and are against remodeling, they sugest combining 3 counties, anything to degrade the courthouse`s location. Their undermining is no different from those that got the short end of the stick during the American Revolution in both cases their petty grievances do not have the best interest of the county or Country at heart.

Hey BA, I do not hold a grudge this just started by me telling 'the other side of the story'.
The problem with history is if you just read the story as told by the winner you do not usually get the whole story.
As I noted above I am happy with where I am and our system. It has its problems as does yours.
The Queen is not where the problems are in our system.
