For 7 and 1/2 Years
All we heard was bitching from the Republicans about the health care.
For 7 1/2 years, we heard about their GREAT PLANS, and how much better and how much cheaper it was going to be. It was time to put up or shut up.
I guess, it's time to shut up about the health care. You don't like it, find another way around it. Don't like the amount you have to pay when you're self employed? Take a job with someone who has health care, and quit bitching about it.
Tick Tock....DING DONG!!!! The First bell has rung!!

Re: For 7 and 1/2 Years
The low income and elderly still would have Medicare and Medicaid and if given time the bill just might have lowered cost for the rest down the road. You're right Jen the clock is ticking on the future of your pension, 401 k state and local budgets as this thing implodes. And yes Bruce money eventually become finite one way or another.

Re: For 7 and 1/2 Years
'splain that to me please. I've been listening to and reading gold buggers and doomsday prophets saying that for over 50 years. Have half a row of books on the shelf by those people. Hayek and the Austrians etc. None show anything more than pictures in time of not the old "I've got mine, go get your own" but rather "I've got mine, go xxxx yourself.".
It's worth noticing that the Rand-Friedman crowd in the House headed up by Ryan are the group left standing with their xxxxs in their hands when the smoke cleared on the negotiations. By the far right on one side, and by moderate centrists to the other. Both who rightly suspected that this plan was a ploy to skin somebody, if not danged near close to everybody, on behalf of the very well to do.

Re: For 7 and 1/2 Years
IH, I'm not so dumb to think things are just rosy for this country. Not by any means.
We have millions of people retiring, many of which, are going to be forced to live off the meager SS checks they get, and no health insurance. It's not pretty. It wasn't ever going to be pretty. But having millions of people with no insurance, using the high cost emergency rooms for all their illnesses, that they will have no intention of paying for, isn't an answer, either.
When I was in OKC, I had to check into the Emergency Room, for chest pain that violated my rules to live by. A guy came barging in, with what I assume was his mother, and was DEMANDING a doctor to look at her right now. I got the feeling, that they had no insurance, and it looked to me, like this maybe had happened before. He was saying things to his mother like, "You're not going to wait here in turn. I'm going to make sure you get taken first."
I was ticked off. I had chest pain too, that needed to be evaluated. Maybe they looked at this woman, and decided she needed to go first. Maybe they just wanted to avoid a scene. But I was pushed back, and no one had yet looked at me, to see what my situation was.
There's the problem. I had insurance, and the ability to pay. My feeling was this person didn't have insurance, and the son wanted to make sure that she got treated.
I see this situation happening more and more. Which is one of the reasons, that I felt it was time for a national health care plan.
Obama care isn't perfect, but I could've died in the waiting room, because this person was put in front of me. If they did a preliminary on her, and decided that she was more critical - fine. Otherwise, this guy got his way, and will do the same thing in the future.
People today, well, it's all about me. I don't know about you guys, but I have seen a LOT of these so called service dogs everywhere lately. You can tell they are not service dogs...they're the family pet that the people didn't want to leave home, and bought some Service Dog looking stuff off the internet, and POOF - the family pet was now a service dog, able to go anywhere....and no one can question it.
I don't know how to stop people from abusing the systems that are set up to keep society functioning. But taking away the items that the Republicans came up with in their plan, was pretty ludicrous. It would've been easier to say what they covered - not what they didn't. Because the plan that they were proposing, didn't cover much of anything. Looked good - until you needed it. Then you found out, that you were paying for essentially nothing. And that's why people ended up before, not being able to keep their policies - because their policies didn't cover the essential services, that the Republicans were trying to eliminate again. They were Bull crap plans. And if they were sold to the public as Bull crap plans, great. But you and I know, these plans were included with employee benefits, and the perspective employee was told, "We offer a health insurance plan!" How many looked, to see what the plan actually was.
I don't have all the answers. But I also didn't campaign, and win the presidency by saying, "I have a GREAT PLAN for health insurance. And it is going to cost you a FRACTION of what you're paying today!!!"
WONDERFUL!!! WONDERFUL!!!! WHAT A DEAL MAKER!!!! LOCK HER UP!!!! If it's too good to be true, it probably is....and it was....sold to America by a sociopathic liar. How long, are you people going to continue to put your trust in this proven liar?
Tick Tock....BONG!
