For those that don't believe in equal rights for women.

Lets petition the congress that they pass legislation taking effect in january 2015. that congressmen get the wages reduced by $20K per annum and congresswomen get their wages raised by $20K. Lets let the cold hard wind of discrimination hit those congress people directly in their face.

Let them feel it so that they can come to terms with it. It doesn't have to be permenent situation but just long enough for them to get the point. BTW the results would be revenue neutral as their are farm more men in the house and senate than women!

Let congress pass a law that says all retired farmers get $2.00 for their corn and all farmers who have farmed for ten years or less get $10 for their corn.

So what happened?

It wasn`t all that many years ago, the headlines were women in metropolitan areas were starting to actually make more than men.  Because sitting at a desk looking pretty, going clickety-clack on a computer was paying more that the male dominated blue-collar work.  Supposedly women stuck it out, got their college degrees and were really raking it in.

well I`ll tell you what happened, there`s an election coming up and it doesn`t look so good for Democrats, so it`s time to whip out the old phoney "war on women" card to get the Democrat voters to turn out.

Re: So what happened?

Equal pay act of 1963

Legislation passed by the Federal Government of the United States in 1963 made it illegal to pay men and women different wage rates for equal work on jobs that require equal skill, effort, and responsibility and are performed under similar working conditions.

So what would this new law do that the old one does not? Force the white house to follow the law?

I poor old Deere hasn't got over a black president and now you want to throw equal pay for women into the mix. No wonder he gets confused.

Exactly right. Why doesn't Holder enforce the laws already on the books? Why does Obama pay the women who work for him less than he pays the men? Obama should be prosecuted for breaking the equal pay act.

Re: So what happened?

To be flippant, if women make 77¢ of a man`s 1 dollar for doing equal work...then a company would be nuts in the head for not hiring ALL women, right?   But, here is how the Dems come up with that phoney-baloney "77¢" number, they take all women that are fully employed and all men that are fully employed and compare each of their AVERAGE hourly wages.

It`s phoney because there are women dominated jobs like waitressing where they work for tips, then there`s male dominated jobs like mechanical engineer or computer geek.....well women should go into those jobs more.

If December corn is $5 on the board, a woman doesn`t get the price of $3.85...actually a lady farmer would get the $5 just like man ..if she wears a low-cut blouse the elevator manager might give her a better basis and she`ll get more than $5  Smiley Wink

It`s all about polictics, cause if the Dems don`t vote this November, you`re gonna hate it Har Har Har.

Here Heritage explains it well   http://blog.heritage.org/2013/06/10/equal-pay-act-at-50-the-myth-of-the-gender-wage-gap/

Re: So what happened?

I think its equal pay for equal equal work.  That means same job description.

Does your wife ever read your rather sexist remarks on here about about women  or do you forbid it.
