Re: READ 3020

Jesus came as a spiritual leader, not a military leader. If you seek a military leader as your messiah , become a Muslim.

Hope this helps.

Re: Quite a provider

Your comment was that their lives, in your opinion, are not that important.

Then when else did Jesus encourage people to arms or any armed defense? Isn't that the point?

You said Jesus would beat all weapons into harrows. You just know. Everyone has the right to self defense.

Seems to me that Jesus makes it pretty clear that swords have their place.....the time was wrong for the sword as Jesus had business to attend to, to fulfill prophecy and save fallen humanity.

The lack of cognitive power exhibited by the lefties here in this thread would have amazed me in years past. It's now seems to be SOP

Luke 22:36

Jesus said to them "But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag: and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one..."

Jesus has said that many will use his words wrongly, and decieve many, which is why his quotes need to be read in the context in which they were made.

When Jesus said that those who will live by the sword shall die by the sword, it is in the context of the priests and soldiers coming to get Jesus to fulfill his destiny.  The most obvious meaning of his words, would be to put your sword down, as members of the Roman army are involved in apprehending Jesus, and that attacking them with a sword, would bring a horde of other soldiers with swords, and a fight would just result in the deciphle's dying because of it.

Another reason would also be that Jesus was to sacrifice himself for our sins, which would mean he was to go willingly, not after a battle.

However, in Luke 22:36, he emplores the deciphles to get a sword, it was before he prayed at the Mount of Olives, and before his arrest.  So, it is pretty easy to deduce that while he wanted his deciphles to be armed, and not helpless.  However, when they came for him, Jesus didn't want them to fight his arrest.   To me, it says that Jesus wanted them to have a sword for their own protection, and not to fight his arrest.

Re: Should we`ve turned other cheek to hitler?

BA, didn't you read the propaganda?  By not starting an uprising against the Nazis, German Christians were to blame for the Holocaust, yet wanting to be armed against the Jihadists, they are just fanning the flames of hate and violence.  The powers that be have decided that the Christians are to blame, and there is nothing that is going to change their minds, nor the minds of their minions.

I said my life is not important!

Re: Luke 22:36

That really goes with the general attitude of most of the right that I see--have a gun for protection but let someone fight the battle.

Re: Luke 22:36

So then I guess jesus not fighting back indicate his death was a suicide!

worth noting

That this is one of the issues that neither side of the nelib/neocon ruling cabal really wants to solve because they deliver reliable blocs as long as they're kept alive. Others would be abortion, immigration.

There is one previous one that has sort of evaporated- gay marriage- on account of constitutional rulings. If you recall, the 2004 election was the gay marriage election and even though Bush barely won it helped a lot on the down ballot.

Notice that since gay marriage is shot as a major issue 3020 has moved on to Bruce Jenner.
