If they don't look any different to the casual observer, which they will not be allowed to by the leadership, than the Bush era Repbulcans who created the mess they are only going to look innefective, Which will hurt the party.
Only thing they can really accomplish is to continue to fracture the party and drown out the voices of those who might actually be interested in seeking helpful actions. And the goofballs will become the face of the party.
Those "goofballs" (your words) are the saviors of the Constitution, and the heroes of the American voters....as proven by the election of just two months ago. The more Conservative that they were, the bigger of a margin that they won by.
BTW, they are my heroes, too..... and I let them know that, on a regular basis.
I also warn them, that if they cross over to the Dark Side, I will work very, very hard to find their replacement in a primary..... right to their faces, in public.
