Further and further to the right
Obama, that is.
If D.C. was major league baseball the left half of the Democrats would probably be willing to trade Obama for Senator Collins and a bag of batting practice balls:

A Monsanto man of all people? Was Capt. Hazelwood or the managers of the Union Carbide plant in Bhopal not available?
How many times will we fall for Dems and Repubs running for office on the promise of change only to be disappointed with business as ussual?
I often thought G.W. Bush had to many bad advisors that held to much sway over him and worry how bad it could have gotten if Condi had not been there. I'm now thinking Obama is suffering from the very same problem.

If the President bends over on the debt ceiling, like he did in December, I will be joining Don, and not voting in 2012.
How about it, Don?

Re: Further and further to the right
If anything is to be done in our govt., he has to compromise. If that is moving to the right, then so be it. He doesn't want everything to grind to a halt and if he stands up to the repubs, that is surely what will happen.

GTO, are you saying the president is right on wanting to raise the debt ceiling or was he right in 2006 when as a freshman Senator he was against raising the debt ceiling under a Repub POTUS when he so eloquently said, "The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. ... Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that 'the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem."
