Sorry, can't agree this time. This country is what it is because of THE GOVERNMENT! It's what seperates us from the rest of the country's around the world. No other country can compare with us, and the reason it works is because we are a country of laws, and the ideology that everyone contributes to the greater good of all the rest.

i agree with your first paragraph whole-heartedly gto but your words are my point---we are a nation of laws not of rules-- and in my opinion that is the problem. the govt. cannot protect everybody-everytime. For example, i don't have to fly because that is a choice but the govt. is trying to protect me i guess by having the faa to patrol the airplanes and the tsa to patrol the passengers. now we know for a fact that  control tower people have been sleeping on the job and tsa people have been groping grandma yet the govt. sailes the ship into the iceberg. i don't know the answer but i vote in elections and that gives me the right to complain and they havent taken that away yet

While congress does nothing, our states are being sued by Holder and our southern border opened wide while Sheriff Joe and his deputies turn in there Federal credentials.

Your "support of government" positions are good reads for those of us who have to live in an over regulated world.  We need to be reminded that they are not the enemy occasionally.

But you lose me when you need to personalize and degrade positions you dissagree with.  That kind of arrogance is why congress has such a low approval rating.

 those who think truckers were not safe drivers without the latest regulation make me want support closing the DOT.  

There are things we need government for.  But government payroll is not earned.  It is a reward for a position of service.  When government employees and electees lose that perspective it is time to "reevaluate".

And it is time------------as you show so well with your comments.

I contend, none of you have the slightest clue as to what the GOP has in mind for this country. You talk about smaller government, yet that is excately the opposite of what the GOP is about. In an article about Ron Paul which was just posted by hardnox in another thread, this is what was stated. The only ones tallking about smaller government are the t partiers, and they haven't got a dog in this hunt, you guys have no one to vote for, but big government GOPhers.

BTW, your the only ones who want the government to do nothing. The majority of Americans want to see some bang for their buck.

How about a Cristy/Leiberman ticket.  I WOULD VOTE FOR THAT.

The ability to tell the party where to go when they are wrong,  smacks of a good statesman who might put his country ahead of the graft and p0litical bosses.

We are supposed to be led by elected officials, doing the will of the people they represent.  But we are led by self serving politicians because we buy the party line and want to be on a "winning team".  The voters are getting what they deserve on both sides.

I can see the draw to Chritie, but not sure that a ticket of 2 guys who live within a stones throw of Goldman-Sachs etal would sell too well outside of the immediate region.
