Re: Gen. Kelly hits end of rope
"The Generals*" all believed that they could steer things toward their basic agenda- more aggressive strategic intervention in the ME, killing JCPOA and heightened belligerence with Iran, something something something with NK.
Now they all just wish they had Obama back. Deep State, ya know?
*Flynn was the one who broke bad- out of the chain of command and into the RW grift world.

Re: Gen. Kelly hits end of rope
Of course......
.......given the fact that despite tens of $Ts spent we haven't won a war* that amounted to anything since 1945, when we assisted the Soviet Union.
We might want to reexamine whether our military system actually advances the best and brightest to top leadership. That's a part of the problem but far from the entirety of it.
*we did win the big one- The Cold War- with 40 years of relative patience and restraint, and a superior economy, a population relatively well care for.....and The Deep State.

Re: Gen. Kelly hits end of rope
BTW, I neither encouraged or discouraged our kids from military service as they came of age during the hot part of the wars. Although they were aware of my jaundiced view of those enterprises.
However, their opinion of Our Military is interesting, inosfar as it represents Millennials in general. They had many friends and contemporaries who served- primarily those who fell off the conventional college track at some point.
They tend to have a lot of respect for "the institution" in terms of the importance for their generation. Of course fortunately no severe casualties or deaths in their circle, either.
