I defend Hank, the Dixie Chicks and others the right to say what they believe in their songs and at concerts.  I would hate to see our government have to have some silly list of "bad" words not allow like we saw around 45 years ago with George Carlin.  To help in that regard these entertainers could try to exercise some constraint starting with Hank's comment "We've got a Muslim president who hates farming, hates the military, hates the U.S. and we hate him!"

As a person who has played guitar for 50 years I love hank he is a great musician. But this is a bit overboard, how can you say he hates farmers were having great financial success. I go to concerts to hear musicians not politics, not defending Obama, I think he is a trainwreck, but shut up and sing.

There are a couple of glaring differences.  First, the Dixie Chicks didn't even have the guts to make their comments while within the U.S.  Second, it ruined their careers.  Hank's career has been over for quite some time.  It might be more plausible to compare Hank's rant to Ted Nugent's rant.

3rd I doubt many democrats listen to country and western. Dixie chicks pooped where they slept. That is what angered their fans.
