Great Americans

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Colonel_Richard_Owen_(bust)

At the statehouse yesterday and walked by the statue and reminded of a story that I'd forgotten.

It was funded by Confederate veterans groups in appreciation of Owens' humane management of the Camp Morton POW camp that served as a model for others.

Re: Great Americans

Hardly unique these days but I'd best describe the current state of the Indiana Capitol as sort of like a Lenin's Tomb Mausoleum except that they pickle people's brains for the display.

Re: Great Americans

In contrast, the only Confederate hanged by the victorious Union was the Commandant of the notorious Andersonville Camp.

As far as the matter of hanging goes, here's an oldie that I've posted here a couple of times because I really like it.

About the Confederate terrorists who we should have hanged. Sorta obvious, given where we are in the moment.
