Greatest movie ever made
scene from The Ten Commandments
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wglhBLDgPco
Zipporah , the Cu*****e woman of Midian, takes the penniless "Prince of Egypt" to be her husband. If she had known what the future held for her, would she have done it?Probably the gold standard for what every man should look for in a wife.
Cecille DeMille...(probably left out a few syllables in the directors name..sue me) said that he started out as a lukewarm believer while producing the film and something transformed him into a devout Christian by the time he was done. I can attest to what that "something" was.
Happy Palm Sunday.

Re: Greatest movie ever made
I like the staying power of The 10 Commandments and it`s great ABC still runs it around Easter, maybe a latchkey kid happens on it and would spark their spirit to investigate further in a home that is otherwise nonbelievers.
What has amazed me about the historical event of the Israelites being freed from Egyptian captivity is they follow Moses and witness Divine events, Red Sea parting, but first chance to stray they build a golden calf to worship.
However, we see this everyday in today`s world where socialism is celebrated and yearned to be tried. One would think after this God inspired gift through President George Washington and the Founders that the oral history of British tyrants, through the Civil War and the World Wars. That us so-called intelligent modern peoples wouldn`t fall victim in any of the AOC/Bernie empty promises.
See, we have the benefit of history books and yes, historical films yet too many of us fall for the diseased painted lady of totalitarianism.

Reminded of the Coen Bros. Hail Caesar.
Not the greatest movie but a pretty goof send up on the Biblical epics of that time.

Re: Greatest movie ever made
The old question if you were stranded on an island and had 1 book, 1 movie and 1 song. My answer is pretty much the same as it was 25 or 30 years ago.
Movie: Lonesome Dove
Song: Lyin Eyes
Book: At that time it was Guinness Book of World Records (Don't think it's printed anymore so not sure today)

Re: Greatest movie ever made
MHad Lonesome Dove at the very top of my all-time television event AND book for decades. Book stays there. Then they produced Breaking Bad.
The appeal of LDove for you based on the deep political and cultur undercurrents within it is confounding for me, but lots of things look different to different people.

Well, it seems a lot of things easily confound you but stop with the deep political and cultural undercurrents in Lonesome Dove because there's not, your just saying that because some liberal professor probably said so and people like you are easily indoctrinated by what winger liberal professors say because you think it sounded cool.
