He seemed to be making a cloaked threat in some of his spiel about "executive action", as in declaring a state of emergency, like Ol' Honest Abe, if he didn't get his way. As he has a public reputation for disgracefully backing down and being weak, dominated by special interests and foreign powers, and better liars, he may believe forcing gun prohibition on Americans is a cheap way to make his so-called "legacy" that of a man of power and foresight like Lincoln was made out to be. Easier to pretend than to be.
Unfortunately, succeeding MIS-administrations have utilized the UN-Constitutional 'War Powers" of the executive, establishing it's precedence, instead of being loyal to the Constitution and preserve it's real functions.
About every succeeding executive has taken a little bit more unconstitutional extension of executive's authority and powers. It's like a tag team. It's got to stop before and unless it's too late for a peaceful rehabilitation. The specter of opposing political parties is a lie to fool the sheeple.
Wilson mis-used it to take over control and regiment manufacturing, all resources including agriculture, which has never been let go free. Control of agriculture is just a prime example of things which stated as a so-called under the guise of War Powers, most of which have never been repealed and are still there to be further abused.
