Re: Guns and abortion equal

Firearm deaths in the United States receive an awful lot of attention.

Rightfully so, as a developed nation, the rate of violent deaths involving a firearm, and the horrendously frequent shootings targeting schools, is high.

Infographic: Where Firearm Deaths Are Most Prevalent | Statista

You will find more infographics at Statista

However, as Statista's Martin Armstrong notes, compared to the whole world, the U.S. rate comes in well below countries such as El Salvador and Venezuela which had 72.5 and 64.3 firearm-related deaths per 100,000 population in 2016, respectively.

According to the Small Arms Survey, in the U.S. this rate is 3.1.

Re: Guns and abortion equal

So you have moved your country into a different grouping than I would have thought.

I thought you wanted to 'make america great again' but you choose to compare yourself to countries with poor economies and troubled societies.

Maybe you are correct.

But just in case you might want to check firearm deaths in developed countries

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/how-u-s-gun-deaths-compare-to-other-countries/

Americans are 10 times more likely to be killed by guns than people in other developed countries, a new study finds.

Compared to 22 other high-income nations, the United States' gun-related murder rate is 25 times higher. And, even though the United States' suicide rate is similar to other countries, the nation's gun-related suicide rate is eight times higher than other high-income countries, researchers said.

The study was published online Feb. 1 in The American Journal of Medicine.

Re: Guns and abortion equal

A prime example of how these guys ((RWNJs) cherry pick data to make it coincide with a their argument. Thus the term “pretzel logic”.
Guatemala, El Salvador, etc. really?
Really pathetic...

In France their choice of murder is by automobile, bombs and those pesky knives...What`s your point?

Generally speaking, I am much more concerned on a daily basis about other drivers on the road, than people with firearms.   But then, I don't live in a densely populated, liberal-progressive controlled area where gun deaths are quite common.

Re: Guns and abortion equal

Anyone who equates guns and abortion has a screw loose.  Guns are a tool, not a life.  Statistics can be made to look however you want.  1 is 1000 times .001 for example, yet both are small numbers.  Perhaps we should look at death rates per 100,000 for people under a doctor's care, and see what that tells us, ban doctors?

Re: Guns and abortion equal

I suppose if we are to compare apples to apples/tools to tools. An AR15 to a uterine currette? The gun can take a life. No doubt about it. It can also save a life. It can be used to shoot a projectile at a paper target. It can be used to put food on the table. It’s use is dictated by free will and the individual that uses it. The currette in very rare cases could save a woman’s life. We are talking less than 1%. In the vast majority of cases it is used to slice a living unborn human into small pieces so to be removed from the uterus. So which wielded tool is more deadly? If you ban the currette will it stop abortions? If you ban the gun will it stop murders? It’s not the tool. The person(s) using them, their intention(s) and justification(s) are what is the central theme. That’s what needs to be addressed.
