Romney- can probably get away with it in a red state that's none too fond of Trump and he's an icon.

Graham- would find a reason not too while making some moralistic noises.

Sasse- could also probably get away with it, but he'd be playing a risky long game. 

Gardner, Collins, Tillis, McSally (Ernst, McConnell marginally) i.e., Senators up for re-election who are at risk. Really a no-win for them- without The Base they're even deader than they might be otherwise. 

But in the end, if you need the good politics for why to impeach, that's it. Make 'em stand and make that vote.

But even if there aren't good politics, impeachment needs to proceed.

The opposing argument is that after being exonerated by a kangaroo court, Trump might quite literally suspend the Constitution, cancel the elections and announce the beginning of the 1000 year Reich of The House of Trump.

The Founders did not take into account the possibility of a criminal sociopath becoming POTUS on the heels of 30 years of the corporatocracy steadily weakening the rule of law.

Guess it is unlikely to get any better in that case, so might as well have at it.

The Real Deep State * (corporatocracy, oligarchy and their paid knaves) knows that by 2024, demographics** will have turned against them. So they'll make their stand to kneecap the Constitution while they still can.

The Folk will fight bitterly on their behalf so as to not have to be forced to eat gay cakes, have their popguns registered, be forced to take sex pills etc.

I had not entertained the possibility that Moscow Mitch will just stop articles of impeachment from being taken up.

Thus avoiding any specific uncomfortable votes.
