Hey Canuck

Is there any greater symbol of racist imperial oppression left on earth than the British Monarchy?

Re: Hey Canuck

How do you think the first nations feel about public land up there being called crown land, pretty offensive.

Re: Hey Canuck

Hey Sam do you know your history?

You do realize that the indigenous people fled the federal forces in your country that were killing them and moved to what is now Canada for protection under the British Crown. They were instrumental in helping route the invaders in the war of 1812 because they knew what would happen to them under their control and so they were loyal to the governing force not the rebel forces. Same as so many settlers who had been persecuted by the rebels and fled north for safety.

Public land is known as Crown Land because that is the head of our government. If the government owns it then it is listed as owned by the head of our government, the Crown. Put someone else's name on it and it would no longer be public land.

Have the Canadians ever elected a black prime minister?

Over throw the queen Over throw the queen Over throw the queen. End the repression. Time for us Americans to tell them what needs to be done.

Re: Hey Canuck

If you know anything about history canuck you'll know that those people much preferred the french, they hated the British just slightly less than the American settlers.    The British used them then tossed them aside.  At fort Miami the British who had encouraged the natives to war closed the gates to fleeing natives.  The natives knew the brits were treacherous liars, siding with them was a last resort.

Still doesn't change the fact that the head of your government is an institution that oppressed natives around the world relentlessly.

Re: Hey Canuck

Better than that 3020. How about a black woman immigrant from Haiti who was Governor General of Canada which is above the Prime Minister Michaelle Jean https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michaëlle_Jeanand also a Chinese

And then there was Adrienne Clarkson who was a Chinese immigrant from Hong Kong who was also Governor General

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adrienne_Clarkson

Governor General is above the PM the head of government in Canada representing Her Majesty the Queen and are what keeps the government functioning when there is no PM because of an election call or a lost confidence vote.

Our government can kick the PM out if they are not doing a good job and either put someone else in as PM or have another election.

No need for 'impeachment' here, just kick the bum out if they are not doing a good job.

BTW those who are calling to get rid of the Queen in posts below do not have a good example to replace her with as the other option with no royal head of government is a president and just look at the mess you guys have now with a president and no easy option to replace him for 3 and a half years.

Re: Hey Canuck

Reminds me of the way the "crown" conducted the Anglo-Boer War with their scorched earth policy where Dutch Afrikaner women and children were put into concentration camps to die.

Re: Hey Canuck

The Spanish were maybe more brutal, but on a more limited scale and timeframe.  How anyone can be critical of confederate generals while still maintaining allegance to the British crown is astounding.
