Hey Craig....About Those Caucuses

Craig, Why is it that no photo IDs will be required in order for a person to vote at the meetings.

I thought that Republicans were BIG on avoiding voter fraud......

There should be a picture ID required.  I think the Iowa GOP has all the names of registered Republicans in each precinct all listed for us to work from.  They would have had to show proof of residency to the Auditor's office to have joined the party at that time.  If it is good enough for the County Auditor, it is good enough for us.... I guess.

If someone comes and wants to become a Republican at the caucus, they will have to show me their proof before the vote takes place.   I will be acting as Secretary for Lincoln Township on Tuesday evening.

From what I skimed of the story, the headline doesn`t matchup with what`s in the story.  At caucuses the only way around a ID and voting would be if someone attests to your identity (if false it would be fraud).  At the upcoming poll fraud, such as Minnesotans sneaking in, will be closely watched.

Re: Hey Craig....About Those Caucuses

Hey, I could make the same case for someone to show up "illegally" in the general election......"he must have shown proof of ID at the time he registered"..... and you know that might have been 30 years ago.....

With All Due Respect...(and not much is due).....it sounds like another Republican "do as I say, and not as I do".....deal.  (grins)  KenJ

At the Iowa GOP Straw Vote in Ames, this past summer, I was in charge of voter credentials at Hilton Coliseum and we checked each and every voter's driver's license.  If they did not check out, they were escorted to the door and security was made aware of them.

Secretary of State Schultz has made it a top priority of his to require photo ID to be able to vote.  Give him time, he is working on it.

Re: Hey Craig....About Those Caucuses

So then....attestment is OK?

That's what is done now in nearly all of those places where they are trying to restrict access and require IDs.

You still, by that revelation, have gone nowhere in addressing Ken's question.

But a statement from the Chief Medical Officer of Hawaii isn't good enough for you.

Re: Hey Craig....About Those Caucuses

Craig, it gives me great comfort the liberals agree there is very likely to be voter fraud with out photo ID.

Re: Hey Craig....About Those Caucuses

R, I don't claim to be a "liberal", and neither do I claim that there will BE votor fraud at the Iowa caucuses....

Just trying to show the hypocrisy of requireing photo ID at the GENERAL election--where Democrats vote--and NOT at the Republican caucus.

There are precious few documented cases of actual voter fraud to be found in the country....Kansas had something like 4-5 in the last election cycle, but we passed an extensive and expensive bill to "fight" it for the future.   KenJ

Re: Hey Craig....About Those Caucuses

If they are going to require a photo ID then they ought to expedite the procedure to get a photo Id. That means granting a photo ID at no charge and if it requires a copy of a birth certificate that should be available at no charge. Otherwise, it appears that it is a poll tax to require voters to spend money to qualify to vote.
