Re: High water mark of the Tea Party

One thing is for sure, the woman who was shot was one of the people who was targeted by Palin.  Let's not deny who Palin is, a republican.  She is a dumb as the preverbial dog faeces and advertise herself, politically, like she has is appalling.  This is proof of it.  We are not told of this nutter's political beliefs but you can guess I suspect.  The nastiness which has crept into political debate, and especially on this forum, is not becoming of a democracy.  We have our own Mollie, who is a racist bigot not to mention a mental pygmy and ignoramous. All his post and dengrating anything Democrat.  Basically this site is full of  democrat hatred but most is geneuine political banter.  The media have tapped into the sentiment of the sheep, ratcheted it up a couple of levels and this is what we get.  Have a look at the silly post by the imbecile, immediately above this.  That is what is happening.

Take Beck, for instance.  He is an alcoholic looney.  If Obama was not president you would not see his ugly, racist head on TV.  He is basically, leading the pack of anti Obama sentiment.  I think your nation needs to have a good hard look at what is going on.  Acceptance of the democratic process is the first thing to attack.

Re: High water mark of the Tea Party

I don't recall the media saying that. they had dozens of witnesses. one of the bigger tragedies of the ft hood shooting was that the stupid sob didn't finish himself off. now we have to care for him. where are the "death squads" when we need 'em.

Re: High water mark of the Tea Party

If there is any gun backlash it might be how with long paper trail of out control behavior, previous threats, drug use,  is how did the state allow him to purchase a gun.   Don't Az have back ground checks?

Re: High water mark of the Tea Party

That`s the key question Hobby, I have a buyers permit in Iowa and to obtain that you need to fill out a form with all sorts of questions that would disqualify someone with Loughtner`s history. The county Sheriff checks the information out for 3 days before the permit is issued. It works really well. The Tucson Sheriff doesn`t sound like he would`ve approved Loughtners permit, Az must be under the "Brady Law" that just has a 5 day waiting period.

Re: High water mark of the Tea Party

Gough, `Good Morning America` just reported Loughtner`s political leanings are "very liberal" if you really want to politicize this tragedy, which I don`t. Consider this, Gabriel Gifford was a "Blue Dog" Democrat, willing to work with Republicans. On Msnbc you have Larry (socialist) O`Donell, Keith Olberman, Dylan Ratigan running down Republicans 24/7 with lies and danm lies. You take a nutter like Loughtner high on dope all fired up about "traiter" Blue Dog Democrats after watching Keith Olberman, something snapped ....and off he went fully cokced. BTW "there`s no evidence Loughtner had even heard of Palin",  I`m sure he had, but there is no evidence of him being influenced by her or anyone else, other than the demons in his own head.

Re: High water mark of the Tea Party

Lots of  boilerplated stuff there that we will hear much more of for months...but something very individually creative also..congratulations are in order, I guess...where the heck did you come up with "Dylan Ratigan running down Republicans 24/7"? Have you ever watched his program? I record and watch it religiously...BECAUSE it is non-partisan and deals exclusively with issues that transcend politics and parties. At least equal in the number of guests of each party affiliation he has on, if not more Republicans. It seems at times that Tom Coburn is on every other day.

Re: High water mark of the Tea Party

There is a lot of crap coming on internet sites as to who, what, or why this guy went off the edge.   Most of it seems of a way to blame either right ot left for now with no real foundation or facts  Just hear say.     That being said the only (my opinion ) is in his net postings was the dislike or disgust with present govt and what it was trying to do  (mind control)  is one he mentioned.    We have to admit there is real vocal sentiment thru all news midia, talk radio and internet that govt is the problem.  Maybe this nut case went over edge taking these building resentment of govt out on the congresswoman  who to him represented the govt    I don't know best wait and see .

On GMA and This Week with Christiane Amanpour they all said a number of times that Loughner had no ties to the Tea Party or Conservative groups. I just don`t know how you guys can keep from feeling icky by politicizing this tragedy. I knew this would happen, but I`m disappointed none the less. Loughner was 'troubled' his entire life and got into dope, he wasn`t conservative or liberal, just his own brand of nuts. Of course those of us on the Right will fight back when this tragedy is used for gun control or reason to grant amnesty or keep Obamacare intact. Why can`t politics be left behind on this issue....just once? We can all agree that he was nuts and this was a tragedy, correct?

Weeks ago the Congressional Budget Office predicted that, left to its own devices, our economy would likely recover on its own by the end of the year. But that hasn’t stopped liberals from using the economic downturn to massive government power grabs and hundreds of billions of dollars in new spending.
I’ve argued repeatedly that democrats are using the politics of fear, in this instance uncertainty about the economy, to ram-rod their their spending and policies. But I never expected one of the Democrats, Obama’s chief of staff no less, to come right out and admit that.

And we should all know by now that this latest and biggest-ever Washington fiscal binge isn’t about saving the economy. The White House chief of staff, Rahm Emanuel, let the cat out of the bag when he said, "You never want a serious crisis to go to waste — and what I mean by that is an opportunity to do things that you didn’t think you could do before.”
In that vein, congressional Democrats are using the financial crisis to spend hundreds of billions in taxpayer money they didn’t think they could spend before.

The Democrats aren’t concerned about the economy. The “stimulus” isn’t a fix for the economy. The Democrats are concerned about consolidating the government’s power over we citizens, to better their ability to promote their liberal agenda, and the “stimulus” bill (and a lot of the other legislation that will be coming out of Congress in the coming weeks and months and years) is just a means to that end.

All this is, Same Ole Shinola, Different Day.

Re: Loughtner, GTO....Birds of a Feather???

@BA Deere wrote:

GTO, Loughtner thought that the government was doing `mind control` through improper use of grammar. In none of his incoherent writings did he mention any politician by name. His grade school teachers said he would interupt class with nonsense. Tucson Sheriff said he had numerous run ins with the law.......Better luck next time, I don`t know but.....ya think  maybe....being NUTS outweighs any political motives this guy has????????????????

Perhaps, with the evidence of GTO's rants on here....he and Loughtner both have had their "cheese slide off their cracker".

Just sayin'.

Many true red lefties have written how much they dislike Congresswoman Giffords.  She voted against Pelousi being kept as minority leader.  Maybe the socialists put her on their "hit list".

Just sayin'.

Are the news media deliberately disguising the reported liberal politics of Jared Lee Loughner, the suspected gunman in yesterday's fatal shooting that left six dead and gravely injured a U.S. congresswoman?

WND was first to report that Caitie Parker, who went to high school, college and was in a band with the gunman, labeled Loughner as "quite liberal" and "more left" on her Twitter account.

It was that Twitter posting that first prompted ABC News' Jack Tapper to send out a Twitter message of his own, asking publicly how he can get in touch with Parker.

ABC News online today quoted a "high school classmate" of Loughner's, apparently Parker, as saying "he was extremely political in high school, but not radical."

The ABC News online article does not state which kind of politics Loughner ascribes to.

In her Twitter postings, Parker wrote of Loughner, "As I knew him he was left wing, quite liberal and oddly obsessed with the 2012 prophecy."

She also described him as "more left."

Re: High water mark of the Tea Party

I am amazed how some of you guys so quickly want to rush to judgment and try and establish a link to the right or the left with this deranged killer.  These killings were the work of a person with severe mental illness and not a person with a strong belief in the views of either party.  From what I have read this guy's political views were all over the place and can not be easily pigeonholed under the tent of either party.  Pretty sad to see some trying to play politics with such a terrible tragedy.

Gough, I agree politicians and regulars folks such as those that post here have gotten more vitriolic and less civilized in the past decade or so.  I will admit at times that I have been guilty to a degree as well.  You are correct that Palin has been one of the national politicians that have pushed this envelope but you seem to be in denial with your own contributions in this regard.  Simply go back and read some of your past posts and see how often you attack and make fun of others.  You love to use the term "Repigs" to insult Republicans.   Just in this last post of yours that I am responding to you say, "She (Palin) is a dumb as the proverbial dog feces"  -   "Mollie, who is a racist bigot not to mention a mental pigmy and ignoramus."  - "Have a look at the silly post by the imbecile, immediately above this." -  "Take Beck, for instance.  He is an alcoholic loony.  If Obama was not president you would not see his ugly, racist head on TV."

You seem to be able to recognize this problem with others when you say, "The nastiness which has crept into political debate, and especially on this forum, is not becoming of a democracy."   However you seem to not be able to understand that you also are a big part of the problem.  Hopefully this tragedy will help encourage folks of all walks of life to take a look at how they can try improve in this regard.
