Re: Hooray, Republicans to end all farm programs.

Your wanting "Republicans to act like Republicans" reflects what era? What generation or administration? Was there one when the primary function of the party wasn't to funnel as much wealth upward to the 5 or 2 or whatever % is currently getting the cream out of the pail? Or are you among them and that's how you'd want it...of which then we can understand.

I'm thinking maybe Eisenhower...and they say that Hoover was a real egalitarian who was in public service for the very reason of public sevice.  But your views expressed here over time don't line up with them or their attempt at policy. I pick up more Joe McCarthy and Jesse Helms off of you, and if either of them had run for federal office they'd have picked up sub Goldwater or McGovern numbers which would barely be possible.

Ford was the first appointment by the permanent government...as V.P. for the disgraced Agnew when it became evident that Nixon was toast. Carter slipped past the goalie and had to be ruined from above and as a result since then there have been a string of either pre-approved or immediately complicit upon arrival Manchurian winners.

Obama is bending over backwards for the plutos in an impossible environment and he's getting this s##t in return:

So..again..which Repblian was the real one...the one these guys need to act like?

Re: Hooray, Republicans to end all farm programs.

You are correct in asking, what Republicans? For me Pat Buchanan is the quintessential Republican, a dose of protectionism, communist hater, pro gun, anti wastefull spending, pro rugged individualist, pro Judeo/Christian, all with a dash of healthy racism Smiley Wink . The problem is the Repub party has been co opted by big nasty business, the kind that says "Greed is legal and I want to make Love to it!!!". Just like the Dem party has been co opted by radical sexual deviants, radical multi-culturalists, gun haters, pencil-necked environmentalists, global warmers (while we freeze our nads off) . You get the idea, you Dems have to overlook alot of weirdness to stay united in your party.

Re: Hooray, Republicans to end all farm programs.

Pittance....starting adding up all the cost sharing  the taxpayer have been picking up for farmers  The crop ins alone is money in farmers pockect look how that has exploded in last yrs.  They only allowed 22b   in 08 5yr farm bill and used 15b first 2 yrs leaving 7b for next 3 yrs   This additional money being put on fellow  taxpayers who many are unaware they are providing for farmer over above orginal costs   But your a capitalist or a socialist........

Where did I say I wanted to keep farm programs? I`ll go you one better, get rid of the whole USDA, except food safety. Like Faust used to say their crop reports are just "comic books", reseach can be had from seed companies and Informa. Now that we agree on that my fellow Republican, can I count on you to help me expose the other wastefull entitlement programs?

Re: Hooray, Republicans to end all farm programs.

Wake me Hardnox when you see politicians from either party calling to end the farm program in an election year.

I'm curious how many programs are passed now days that are funded?   Heck I have serious doubts as to just how realistically health care reform is funded.

So..again..which Republican was the real one...the one these guys need to act like?  Bruce, Ron Paul is about the only that comes to mind for me.

Seniors, medicare,  and military should at least be frozen. If you want to be the budget director , I'll help and i'd work for room and board. To be fair, if it would appear that even part of a United states austerity program would be legitimately implemented, the dollar would take off higher. that would not be good for the ag for the short term.

Seems that them thar foreigners like the dollar where it is.  We have 4 people in Clear Lake for the week from Sweden.  They packed an extra carry on suitcase to haul everything from laptops, GPS systems, carmeras, iPads, and shampoo.  What about 5 dollar corn and 11 dollar beans?  Are we on the brink of the golden ag era?  By the way, how much is room and board in DC these days?  Or can we do it from Iowa?  Did you hear Culver got endorsed by the N-fricking-RA?  Is that something a Democrat down by double digits in polls needs or neccessarily wants?  Sorry about the range of topics here.

Are you in favor of extending the "Bush" tax cuts?  I bet that wouldn't save the government any money.  Talk about a wasteful entitlement program...and don't give me that small business hooha, that's an outright joke.
