Horses

What do you think about this, craig?  One of your pet peeves may soon be over.

Re: Horses

I don't know about Craig, but Hallelujah!

Proves that bad policy CAN be overturned if shown to be stupid or  unworkable enough.

Who know what might be next?

Single payer health care reform?

The repeal (of the repeal) of Glass-Stegal?

The elimination of the designated hitter?

Re: Horses

Well, at least the government realized that they did the wrong thing, and is trying to correct it.

I can se no negative to this, from where I live.  Old horses are basically shot, and left for the coyotes, because it costs more to truck them to Mexico, than an old horse is worth.  This would give the owner a way to get rid of the horse, and getting paid a little for it ensures that they won't be left to starve, or carcasses left to rot.  As long as they take steps to ensure the horses are treated pain-free, I see the positives greatly outweighing the negatives.

Re: Horses

You seem to spend an awful amount of time worrying about something that no one else in the world says---"man made"!

Re: Horses I'm with Bruce

The DH definately needs to go. Maybe Clemens wouldn't of pitched inside so much if the roid freak would've had to hit.

Re: Horses

Was at the stockyards a few weeks ago and a couple guys pulled up with a horse in the trailer. They started to unload it and the guy working warned them that it would cost them to run it through. Yea, the guys said we know there's a fee to sell it. No, the guy said, we charge $50 to sell a horse but youre not going to get a bid.

I heard about this a couple of days ago.... I say God Bless anyone who helped make this happen.  I also heard that Mary Landreaux (sp) Senator from Louisiana is going to push something to overturn this, again.

I was also reading on some animal rights forum that the folks there blamed Obama for signing the bill that allowed the government to stay going that contained the rider for the overturn of the horse slaughter ban.  They said that they were not going to vote for him next year..... I bet they do, anyway.

Thanks for the heads up on this..... it is really great news that might breathe some life into the horse industry again!

Re: Horses

I guess if you like killers.  Personally, I wouldn't eat it and I wouldn't sell a horse at auction either.
