Re: How To Become A HERO.

Oh wow Canuck, I usually halfway admire your passivity, but in this case the man was in fear for his life.  He was not trained like police or military to  quickly survey the situation.  He did what his gut told him.  He probably had flashes of his wife and children in his mind.  He was panicked.  He was sacred.  He was protecting what may had taken him a lifetime to build.  he did not want to leave his family alone.  And he certainly didn't want some stupid punk who probably had never had a job, who probably had never worked for anything in his life (just taken what others had worked for and figured since he was destitute and black he deserved it more).  These guys had tried it before, if left alone they'd come again.

The punk is in no way a hero.  And the thought his mother and others hail him as such should frighten the crap out of you.  I know in Canada you may not have the race issue, but we do here.  We have spend hundreds of years and billions of dollars trying to make amends.  Giving them more opportunities than any other country in the world, and they still hate us and want to kill us and take what we have worked for.  And don't even realize we work so they don't have to.  If you could see some of the things I have, if you could experience what some of us do here, so wouldn't be so quick to **bleep** the pharmacist.

I know I have told you of a few experiences of mine.  Because of those I try very hard to overcome my biases.  My Aunt lived on the east side of Waterloo in a black neighborhood.  When she would mow her yard she would have to lock her doors and her garage, because they would go in when she was outside and steal things.   My daughter lived in a predominately Mexican neighborhood and never once had any problem.

Canuck this stuff is regular occurrences we face.  We live in fear for our lives and and our childrens well-beings, our property, everything.  And you call us racists?  As I said before neither I nor any one in my family ever held slaves.  Why do I have to move from my home, why do I have to protect my property why do i have to protect what i worked for.  Maybe white people do this too, but I have never heard a white guy who robs or tries to kill black people being hailed a hero.  There are people held hostages in their own homes, for fear of going outside.  Why do you keep excuseing this behavior?  You have a serious problem Canuck,  white guilt.  you do more damage by excusing their behaviour that a good swift kick in the pants would.  you ever heard spare the rod spoil the child,  here we have a whole lot of spoiled children, (who by the way carry guns).

So what I gather from your post is the pharmisti who works and pay taxes and probably leads a lawful life his life is worth less than the boys who lead lives of crime?  Hmmmm.... sorry can't wrap my mind around that logic.

Well Midwest I guess my understanding and use of the English language is not good enough if I gave you this idea "So what I gather from your post is the pharmisti who works and pay taxes and probably leads a lawful life his life is worth less than the boys who lead lives of crime?  Hmmmm.... sorry can't wrap my mind around that logic"

The pharmist's actions show why people should not have guns. By the report he had time to get 'another gun and load it' and then come back to the already shot and injured boy presumabley lying on the floor bleeding from a head wound and shoot him 5 more times. If you think that is sane rational thinking then I suggest you are the one with the racist attitude. Would you think that way if it were a 'white boy' lying on the floor and would the pharmist shoot a white boy already wounded? 5 times?

Look at the story without an attitude and you can see why some black people feel they are still persecuted.

And "We have spend hundreds of years and billions of dollars trying to make amends" makes no sense to me when I am old enough to remember black people protesting in your country to be allowed to ride at the front of the bus etc.

Racism in your country was widespread not many years ago and I think some are trying to make it so again.

Re: How To Become A HERO.

I think part of the problem is many whites fear blacks and some young blacks often help promote it by acting like tough guy gang members or gang bangers.  When my son lived a dorm during college every time we visited him there would always be about a half dozen black male students hanging out in the entry way of the dorm trying to act intimidating and often harrassing the female students.   This helps make many fearful of all blacks when the problem is mainly associated with only a minority of the young black males.

I just watched Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel on HBO and they had on a segment about a black minor league ball player who was driving his car with his male cousin when a white cop saw them and radioed in to check the license plates on their car which came back as a reported stolen car.   He observed the two young men park in front of a house and exit the car and proceed towards the front door of the house.  The cop went against police protocol and never ran the plate number a second time to verify it as stolen and also choose to not wait for back up when he approached the two men in front of the house.  After the officer told the two young men to get down on the ground and that the car was reported stolen the owners of the house which were the ball player's parents came out in their pajamas (it was around 2 AM) and told the cop that they owned the house and that the two men were their son and nephew and that the car in question was indeed their son's car.

About then a second cop arrived and after forcing the father to stand by his patrol car the officer shoved the upset mother up against the garage door.  Up till then the two young men had been cooperating and laying down on the ground.  At this point the son yelled at the cops to leave his mother alone and raised his torso up off the ground.  The cop that first started the stop already had his gun drawn the whole time but when the son raised up and yell at the other cop to take his hands off his mother the cop drew his gun and shot 3 times striking him once from about 20 feet away.  Luckily the son survived and has now been able to resume his minor league career.   Turns out the officer gave one digit wrong when calling in the license plate and the car was not reported as stolen.

The cop that fired said late he claimed for his life and thought the young man was drawing a weapon.  While it was dark out their was a light on the front of the house and garage offering some lighting.  Neither of the two young men had any weapons, crime records or looked and acted like gang bangers.  Makes me think if a trained cop (who is a bad shot) is so easily frightened by young black males then I can about guess how scared some store owners may get when a black male points a gun in their face during a robbery.

As I said before I think the first shot by the pharmacist was justifiable but the following five shots from a second gun were not unless the wounded robber was attacking him or pointing a gun at him which does not seem to be the case.

Re: How To Become A HERO.

You have to admit it is quite a coincidence that the plate being off by one number would come up stolen. Talk about the wrong place at the wrong time.

Re: How To Become A HERO.

So tell me this. How does a bleeding heart liberal compare to an **bleep** retentive conservative?

Do you ever view any part of the world from a different perspective than your own self interest?

Do you really think Black people are being oppressed and enslaved worse than they were during the slave years? Wow! that is quite a statement. Do you wish to ratify that remark?

I agree that you probably don't pity blacks or poor people for that matter.  Some people are born with a lack of empathy for anyone other than themselves. You can't help it as it is just your nature.

You know something..... If those kids had not entered that drug store with a gun, seeking to rob someone else of something that did not belong to them, I would about bet any amount of money that they would not have been justly rewarded for their evil deeds in the manner that they were dealt.  Put in more simpler terms so that the majority of the neo-liberals can understand.....Those who live by the sword (or gun), will one day die by it.

Re: just rewards

What if's will never change things.

What if the pharmist had just waved his gun and watched the kids run away?

Just rewards? The kids never fired their gun, but the pharmist killed someone with his guns after taking time to find another gun and reload it. so what are his 'just rewards'?

Pardon me for correcting your spelling.  One of those things with me.... But I digress, .... If the pharmacist had just "waved his gun around" and they had run away, ..... down the street to some other unsuspecting victim and perhaps would have shot several people in the next robbery.

In this way, those knuckle-dragging low-lives will never bother anyone else, ever again.

That pharmacist deserves the public's thanks for making the streets safer from animal-like actions.

If I ever get to meet him, I will pat him on the back for standing up to criminals and sending a message that regular folks will not put up with crap, any longer.

Re: just rewards

Sorry for my spelling mistake. Just rushing through and not paying attention.

Now let me critique your answer.

You use terms to descibe the dead boy which I suggest there is no evidence of.

"knuckle-dragging low-lives" to this poor old fellow from Canada means you are trying to turn the dead boy into a person of low intelligence (knuckle dragging) and a person of low social status and poor moral character.

I did not see anything about these in the story I read and saw, Did you know the dead boy or do you have info that I do not? Or are you just trying to slant peoples opinion with no evidence to back it up?

This thread started out complaining about the dead boys mother saying her son was a hero and yet here you are making the person who actually shot an already wounded person 5 times more into a hero.

I guess that is a sign of the moral fabric of your country that a killer is made to be the hero.

I do hope the pharmacist was a person who believes in one of the gods because I sure would not want him to be considered the same as those of us who understand the way the world works and besmirch the term atheist.

By choosing to participate in the act of robbery with loaded weapon, there is no pondering as to the moral character of these individuals... hence, is a justifiable reason that I correctly use the term, "knuckle dragger" in their description.  A person's social class position has nothing to do with anyone being honest or not....Now their intelligence should come into question when they threaten someone else with deadly force....they should expect that a certain percentage of the general population is not going to "bend over and grab their ankles" when threatened with a loaded weapon....some are going to attempt to blow the brains out of the criminal.

Yes, in this country, anyone who snuffs out people who threaten others with deadly force in the act of a crime, is regarded as a hero.  That is why America leads the way in purging the world of tyrants.  Everyone else hides in the corner, sucking their thumbs, hoping the bad guys will somehow reconsider their actions.

Reagan was dead-on right when he said that "Peace is maintained by having overwhelming strength to prevent tyrants from testing the resolve of a peaceful people" (I paraphrase here).

I did not see anything about these in the story I read and saw, Did you know the dead boy or do you have info that I do not? Or are you just trying to slant peoples opinion with no evidence to back it up?

I only attempt to help people to see the world as it truly is.

The pharmacist, the true victim in this crime, did what he had to do, to stop crime in its tracks... his religious affiliations should have no regard in this case at all.
