Re: HuffPo sticks nose in Ag

The trouble is you are unwilling to pay what it cost to put cherries on the table. You want cheap imported labor and then tax the rich to pay those in this country above the need to work.

Re: HuffPo sticks nose in Ag

Until you walk in another persons shoes, and along that persons path, not just for a day, but for a lifetime, a person like you BA, can't begin to understand what life was like.

It appears to me you grew up in the perfect little family, and have had the perfect little life. It's usually the case of what produces someone like you, 3020 and Allen. You think you have all the answers. In reality, your life has prepared you for nothing but the perfect little one man, one woman, three kids Christian value family - that is NOT THE NORM of today's society- which is why you want to reset the clock, back to the June Cleaver time.

Sorry, there is too much pain, by much of this society, that you refuse to see. Enjoy your perfect little life - but don't try and force it down my throat - I've been through too much, to even begin to believe that your perfect little life exists. If you had it - good for you. But I didn't. The blacks didn't. The Mexicans didn't. And don't you dare say it was of their own making, because my situation on the farm sure as he!! wasn't.

Re: HuffPo sticks nose in Ag

Oh yes, stacked hay on the rack and in the barn and shelled corn in the 80`s at $5/hr.  I worked loading trucks 3rd shift...I think starting at $7.15/hr and getting a 35¢ raise every 3 months/no benefits, that as after the 1994 hog crash where IBP paid me 8¢ for the hogs that I had +20¢ of feed already through them.  I hire tractor drivers for $20/hr (can`t get anyone worth a S*** for any less).

So what`s your point?   Have you worked for a boss for a paycheck, before your dad bought you your flower shop?

Re: HuffPo sticks nose in Ag

You want a $15/hr minimum wage until it affects you. Then you want some one else to pick up the tab. That being brown skinned people from south of the border willing to work for pennies on the dollar of what you expect to be paid.

Re: HuffPo sticks nose in Ag

So, if you like Beluga caviar, do you spend $200/oz or do you substitute something else or go without?    Cherries are $4/lb with questionable Mexicans picking them at substandard wages...you can`t tell me that paying Americans a decent wage would double the price.  Only 10% of our income goes for food, cheapest in the world.  Well, part of the reason is cost shifting, the fruit/vegetable and dairy industry get cheap/illegal labor and the US taxpayer has the give out welfare in one form or another so the Mexicans can live.   It`s phantom costs that you don`t see, maybe we`d pay 15% of our income instead of 10% to do it right, but our tax bills for all the Mexican inflicted social costs would be a lot less.

In short, if you have a lower tax bill, your grandkids less access to Mexican dope and less chance of getting shot in a Mexican gang driveby, yeah you might have to pay a little more at the supermarket.

But these Mexicans will one day "wear out" hands crippled with arthritis and such and guess who gets to take care of them?   A hint, not Swift packing plant or ABC Dairy...it`s the US taxpayers, that`s who and of course as old Mexicans wear out, new Mexicans will come in to take their place in the fodder machine...but, By God, Jen has cheap food!!!

That's it BA. The progressive minds think American can't be degraded to work for $20/hr but are willing to bring in a lesser people to cater to their wants and desires.

LOL @ Questionable Mexicans

What is the question ?? Their DNA ?

Again, you have no clue.

But  then, you also think that 3 million Mexicans voted 100 % for the same candidate in a state that such a vote would even matter.

If we ever shell corn out of a crib again, I won't be calling you.

Re: HuffPo sticks nose in Ag

You stacked hay in the barn and got paid for it - even if it was $5.00 and hour.  WE GOT NOTHING!  Not even an acknowledgement that we did it.  In kindergarten, the teacher wanted us to draw a picture of our mommy and daddy.  I said I couldn't.  I didn't have a mommy or daddy.  We were wards of the state, even though BOTH of our parents were alive.  If the money didn't come from the county, such as glasses or Dr. appointments, we didn't get it.  We were told continuously, that if it wasn't for them (my mother's grandparents) caring for us, NOBODY would want us.

Don't tell me about your $5.00 and hour.  Don't even presume to think you know what it's like, being told by people, that your father was a piece of *****, on a daily basis, from the time you can even basically think.

You have not compassion for anyone, because you never had to learn it for yourself.

And you weren't in the kindergarten classroom, trying to explain to the teacher why you couldn't draw what she requested, even when she threatened to keep me after school, and miss the bus, if I didn't get it done, which I didn't, and did miss the bus.

Don't you begin to tell me of how tough you had it....you know NOTHING of how tough others have it.  And back then, I considered myself lucky....I could always point to someone who I thought had it worse.

One way to tell if someone is abused?  They want to be a bird - you know, the, "Dear God, please make me a bird, so I can fly far, far away from here."

That was me.....

Tick Tock....

You had a half hour, you mean you can`t dream up an employment history to brag about???   That really does lead me to believe after college, daddy threw you the keys to your very own flower shop and mom helps you with the books and buys your lunch.
