They were sequestered during deliberations.  Which is generally normal procedure.

Met in the evening, went to a hotel and reconvened in the morning.

It would be hard to find a precedent where a totally different case would be considered. It’s as they would have needed to tell the jurors why they were being called in outside of session, which would have heightened anxiety among them. 

Good Judge. FWIW Appointed by a Law and Order GOP Governor ( who I expect Red has anointed a RINO by now).  A Judge who made the decision, as would be his obligation, on his own.
