I'm rooting for the Bernie of Venezuela

Guaido' is a member of the Democratic Socialist party and self described as such.

There will be a lot of recovery to be had but perhaps in the long run it will be a better place than what it was before Chavez when it was far from an ideal society in terms of freedom and opportunity.

It is understandable that the small former middle class and elite are bitter over their displacement. Although they're sort of like the Cuban exiles- they should have done something back when Batista was running their country as a brutal whorehouse for yankees.

Re: I'm rooting for the Bernie of Venezuela

The whole thing has got a bit of a Spanish Civil War tingle to it. Not that it will generated any Legionairs.

Labeling is different, and quite obviously that has a geopolitical literacy challenged, faction led populous here sitting pretty much in the dark but the contrast between the dark and the light is so stark that even this administration can’t get the sides wrong.

Now what it’s plans are to do with the spoils is another thing. I’m quite sure that full blown colonialism is the desired end for our burgeoning oligarchy but Guiarda at least leaves a shot at something for the people.

Probably neither here nor there but the US refining industry, paradoxically, has a serious glut of light crude  and shortage of the heavy stuff that Venezuela produces.

Of course Russian oil corps signing some deals there recently has nothing to do with the present urgency.

I suppose that we'll come through with massive aid after the change in government?
