Why do so many commercials and shows have blacks and gays?  They make it appear as though this segment of society is a much higher percentage.  So many shows today have to have a gay person while few of us know anybody who is gay (and admits it).  America has about 12% black but TV and movies seem to portray blacks as ubiqutious.

Meanwhile Asians and Latinos are almost nonexistent.  I know more Asians than blacks and I see a lot more Lations working in our area than blacks.  Why are they excluded?

Before I spoke, I would want to sit through a bunch of commercials and count the statistics on race because I don't trust you one bit not to exaggerate. First, I would have to accpet your premise. It could also be that you are watching BET and just don't know it!!!!!!

Case in point - I used to work at an Ag museum and we had lots of pictures of sharecroppers, tenant farmers and other farmers and one person came to me one day and said, "You know, not all sharecroppers were black. Your pictures are reallo off." I went and counted the race of everyone in all the pictures and it turned out to be almost exactly 50% black and 50% white. The problem turned out to be bias for sure, but not that of the museum.

I watch many shows that have blacks and asians and latinos and whites.  More whites but then most of this country is white.  Use the remote to change channels more often.  Hawaii 5 0 has a lot of asians on it and one or two blacks.

OK, I checked commercials for race at 6:55 and again at 7:00 during and after Wheel of Fortune. Here are the results:

V8 - one white, one black

X Finity - one white, 2 black

Cascade (dishwashing soap) three white

Accent Loans (local) one white

Zaxbys - four white

Capella University (a online university) Two wiite cartoon people

Morgan & Morgan Law Firm - two white people

Lipton tea - one white muppet pig (Miss Piggee) and four muppets of varying color from blue to green to purple, etc.

This is no lie - it is a fair and unbias account of what I saw. I encourage others to list a couple of breaks like I did and show the results. You can tally the results on your own from what I reported.
