Re: Question for 3020 on Sharia Law
It will be implemented here just like it is in the rest of the world. A little at a time until there is no turning back. First order of business, get rid of all other religions......and guns.

Authority is a cancer on society
Religion is nothing more than a cancer on society if allowed too much authority
You nearly got it right Don. Any time an entity is vested with too much authority it becomes a cancer. Why is it that you advocate for strong government authority over people? Your religion is no different.

Kraft t is not warning of the dangers of Sharia law with his post......
He is using Sharia law to warn against Christians in this country having a say so in behavior acceptable to our society. I am unaware of current day Christian principals similar to those he mentions and once again he is wrong, this time to use extreme examples of current day Islam as a reason why Christian beliefs should be frowned upon by citizens of this country. He wants democracy and free speech but only if it is the "right" kind. Maybe that should be "left" kind.

More Questions for 3020 on Sharia Law
Wouldn't that take an amendment to the constitution to get rid of other religions? Freedom of religion is provided for in the Constitution. There are many other provisions of Sharia law that would not be Constitutional. Also what about the criminal code? How would Sharia supporters go about changing the penality for theft from jail time to cutting off a hand? The Constitution prohibits cruel and unusual punishment. Those are just a couple of examples and I could give dozens for almost every Sharia law. Then we have the justice system - another whole subject there that would require massive changes, not just bits and pieces here and there or some domino theory.
Implement Sharia law would require a constitutional amendment. First, two-thirds of the House and Senate approve of the proposal. Then, three-fourths of the states must affirm the proposed Amendment by vote. Or a Constitutional Convention would have to be called by two-thirds of the legislatures of the States. Then three fourth of the states would have to approve that.
I need a better basis than this simple theory you provided to believe the institution of Sharia Law in the United States is even remotely possible. Who in the US is going to go along with any implementation of Sharia law?

Re: Actually a christian theocracy..
Is far more apt to occur in this country than sharia law ever was. In fact the american taxpayers already subsidize the christian and jewish faith and both favor war in the middle east because of bibical scriptures. Insanely they wish to make bibical prophesy come true. That is only part of the danger of christian influence in politics.
I don't care if christians or jews have a voice in our politics as long as they don't impose their brand of law upon the American people. Fish on fridays, no pork in our diets, No birth control and no abortions. See there is few limits to the intrusion they would have in the free lives of american people.
They equate God's law as superior to the law of the people. Those that don't share their dogma are somehow deficient in moral authority.. Offer your message all you want but don't expect us to take it.

Re: One could make an argument
That organized religion has been licensed by our government to defraud unsuspecting citizens. Offering eternal life under the pretense that there is a supreme being that demands your participation and contribution.
Hopw many poor a destitute people are bilked out of their meager assets or their life time saving to support a fraudulent religious sect. The powers of persuasion is no less sinister than what Bernie Madoff did. Take their money and deliver nothing in return.
What would people say if bernie madoff had tax exempt status?

How, pray tell, is your complaint about Christians, any different than what is done in the name of the Almighty Central Government Religion, of which many Liberal Democrats worship at it's feet??????

Re: The federal government
is providing service to the people which the people want. Churches are providing nothing but entertainment.
I don't know anybody that worships government. I do know some that hate government and want to make sure it doesn't work. Agree?
