I went to Farm Fest yesterday

It seems that if you want anything built of steel - especially bins or buildings - you only have a few days to make up your mind once you get your bid.  Bin builders will only guarantee the bid price for 3 days the way it seems - because steel prices are so volatile.

I know several people that were going to build buildings this year.  Two didn't build because the price that they were looking at before Trump's trade war began, was much less than after his steel tariffs.

Bin builders are busy never the less - it appears much of this years crop is going to be stored away until some magical date in the future, when prices improve.  Seems like maybe a LOT of farmers didn't take the hint, that Trump's Trade War was going to cost them.  Now, they get to store their crops in bins that they are paying  a premium for.

One farmers said, "I didn't sign up for a trade war."  Pardon Me?   Really?  If you voted for Trump - you voted for a trade war.  Sorry.  The hand writing was on the wall.  Too bad you were only listening to the chants of "Lock her up" and "Who's gonna pay for it?   -   MEXICO".   Idiots.....

Re: I went to Farm Fest yesterday

And yet...

The S&P 500 Index is trading <.4% off of its all time high, the Shanghai Index (i.e. ChiCom stock market) has dropped over 20% since March, and rents for prime Iowa farmland are up YoY. Add in peace (for most of us), prosperity, record low unemployment, stable money, and urban tranquility (Chicago notwithstanding.), and things appear to be satisfactory for now.

That said, trees do not grow to the sky, all children do not always become taller than their parents, and nothing lasts forever. Okay, so I think most of us got the inevitable reversion to the mean deal. Nevertheless, no one on Wall Street or in Chicago seems to have received the memo of the ongoing trade war. Money continues to talk while bovine droppings continue to...well...you know the rest.

[Cliff’s Notes: Stay diversified. Think long term (preferably >15 years or more). Pay attention to and know your management fees. Lastly, believe in America. We still have the privilege of living in the land of the free and the home of the brave.]

Re: I went to Farm Fest yesterday

Well, I know 50 area farmers that were going to put up new bins and sheds. They have all told me their operations were on hold until the democrats come to their rescue. In fact, some say it is so bad they cannot pay for the new parts for their combine.........They say they have no choice but to leave their crops to rot in the fields. LMAO...........

Re: I went to Farm Fest yesterday

Yeah - and yet you need the bail out. I would LMAO too, if it wasn’t so sad and so corrupt.

Enjoy your government hand out. You can use it to pay your health care - the health care I’m sure your paying a “fraction” of what you were paying before on.

And how about those murders in Chicago that we’re going to stop the day Trump took office? How about those taxes that were promised? How about the news conference that tells how the First Lady of P and her chain migration gang got here legally? Oh yeah - but we have to look at more important things first, like the birther and uranium....what a joke you guys are. And that’s the real LMAO moment....

Tick Tock.....BONG x 11 !!!!!!!!!!!

Re: I went to Farm Fest yesterday

Okay, the trade war is not helping the price of steel.  But are you sure(did you ask) the three day price is not just a three day special at Farm Fest?

Re: I went to Farm Fest yesterday

How about you 'wish upon a star' and make all these bad things go away?

Re: I went to Farm Fest yesterday

It would be an understatment to say that “the jen’s“ all over the place are expecting and welcome your holding of that sentiment.

Re: I went to Farm Fest yesterday

Food for thought...if the trade war is ever solved...
Do you think we"ll see a reduction in price ?

Doubt it.

Look at oil prices...oil went up, so did engine
And other lubricants....

Oil went down, and I'm still getting sticker
Shock on engine oil and other lubricants.

Look at cost of tires.....

Lumber....

I have a farm I need a machine shed on with
A small apartment. Things are so wacky...
For insurance I'll have to have someone
Live there, since so far out...fire class 10, etc.
I'll have to rent out apartment for little of
Nothing, just to hold Insurance....now if
Only renter isn't the vandel
I priced project....I can't afford it
