Interesting Story -Background Checks

It seems that there could be some improvements made in backgrounds checks. Looks like first hand knowledge in this case was the only thing that saved someone's life, potentially anyway. There are some interesting details about background check systems. And before anyone says it....sure he broke the law. Sure he could have acquired his firearms through the underground, but he didn't go underground because of a faulty system that needs to be improved.

Re: Interesting Story -Background Checks

Everyone that I know wants to keep guns out of the hands of the mentally imbalanced, instead of hammering this nonsensical "assault" weapon and magazine ban why doesn`t 0bama work on the background check end of things where there is common ground with the NRA?   According to your story the reason that nut got those guns was a snafu in the background checking system...well, let`s fix it!  The conspiracy theorist in me says that there may be cases of "mistakes on purpose"..let a few nuts pass though in hopes of shooting that can be politiicized.  If you`ll recall during 0bama`s 1st term, liberals would say "AAAARG  OBAMA DOESN`T WANT YER GUNS!!!   HE OPENED UP MORE GUN RIGHTS NOW YOU CAN CARRY GUNS IN STATE PARKS!!!! ARRRRG".  well that is all fine and good, but I never really had a hankering to carry guns in a state park http://www.motherjones.com/mojo/2010/04/armed-protesters-give-thanks-barack-obama  That was just ridiculous, it was just a version of giving someone enough rope in hopes that they will hang themselves.

Re: Interesting Story -Background Checks

Actually several of these issues in this article are addressed in Obama's Executive Orders, which met heavy criticism.

As for carrying a firearm in a state park  - most people do it anyway and it is up to individual states to legislate on the state park issue. If I know what I am talking about, Obama signed law that allwos them to be carried in National Parks.
