Re: Intrusive government and thank goodness for Farm Bureau
When I realized that Farm Bureau was against my political philosophy, I cancelled my membership. Even though it may have cost me more for insurance. But then I am no longer a republican either.

Re: Intrusive government and thank goodness for Farm Bureau
Sorry Don if I choose not to take advice from one of the biggest hypocrits I know. Sometimes when working with another person and especially a family member there is something called compromise that comes into effect. However based on your posts I'm guessing that is something you would know little about.
By the way I'm still waiting for you to answer the question on how you would have reacted to the proposed Johnson County ordinance if it had been proposed in your county while you were still farming and were raising livestock.
Curious if you have decided to not support Obama and Dems in 2012 since they have gone against your philosophy on extending the Bush tax cuts? Not sure if you understand or can bring yourself to realize that most of the Dems were against extending the tax cuts but went along simply because they believed it would be in their best interest when it comes to time to winning re-election. Sort of like they went against their own belief and yours on giving Bush the green light to go to war because they were again concerned about getting re-elected. You must have loved Obama's statement shortly after the agreement was made to extend the Bush tax cuts where he said that in 2012 when he would be seeking re-election that he was certain he would then be against extending the Bush tax cuts.
Please don't tell the republican party that I'm a Repub or they will want me to change from being registered an Independent which I have always been since the age of 18 and start wanting me to donate money to them which I have never done for any of their candidates.
Hopefully you got a new set of blinders for Xmas as your old pair has to be well warn by now.

Re: Intrusive government and thank goodness for Farm Bureau
You're just a wee bit confused. Dems went along on the "compromise" on the tax cuts because it was very clear that if they did not, none of the cuts would go forth. The Dems wanted only the middle and lower income cuts to go forth but your folks had to make sure that their supporters got their cuts re-instated also. You're an IINO.

Re: Intrusive government and thank goodness for Farm Bureau
Seriously Bart all these excuses are getting old. Reminds me of how stupid old G.W. Bush tricked all those Dems earlier into going to war. Your party has made a habit lately of getting bested by Repubs and will not be man enough to take responsibility for their actions or failures. Is it to much to ask to have your elected representatives grow a set and stick to their beliefs? Maybe your party needs it's own Tea Party type revolution to weed out those lacking a spine.
Dems went along with the tax cut extensions after first wetting their fingers and sticking it up in the air to see which way the wind was blowing and then voted which ever way they felt would be best for them to win re-election. You have a few Dems that will stick to their core beliefs but they seldom rise to the top of your party and you usually get spineless flip floppers running the ship. Feingold was one of the few in your party that I respected for not always compromising his core values and now he is sadly gone much like Jim Leach for the Repubs. Both parties need more of those types of men and women.
Tell me how did Bush and Reagan got some of their agenda passed through a Dem controlled Congress that was originally against it? It can be done but your party hasn't got the stones or political skills to do it and it is not just me that thinks that but a great many others that follow politics including many in your own party. Dems should have never waited till the 11th hour to address the Bush tax cuts extensions when everyone including members of their own party would simply say O.K. just so they could go home in time for the holidays. They boxed themselves into a corner and can not blame Repubs for once again getting the better of them. Put the pressure on Repubs and let them be the ones that appear to be the ones that hold up tax cuts for the middle and lower class. Let Repubs be the ones that don't allow unemployment benefits being extended right before Xmas when we have 10% unemployment. Heck I can't even credit your party with finally getting the 9-11 responders benefits passed as it appears John Stewart did far more for that cause then any elected official in the Dem party.
Bottom line you guys need to quit whining about Repubs when they keep kicking your butts and start demanding your party leaders start acting like leaders. Don't worry as I'm betting that Repubs will misinterpret their recent wins at the polls and push to far. That combined with an economy on the mend will lead to more favorable results for Dems in the next election.

Re: Intrusive government and thank goodness for Farm Bureau
No Dag they did not vote for it for election purposes. They voted for it to win support for benefits for the 3 million unemployed. I would not have caved to the hostage takers. I would have let the tax rates expire for everyone and that sure as hell wouldn't have won many votes.
You sure have aknack for knowing what motivates democrats. I guess that your party is so deep in the payola tank that you think everyone thinks that way.
I wonder if you would call me a hypocrit to my face and what the result of that would be. My goodness you are courageous when you are anonymous and behind a key board.
BTW..I didn't support Obama the last time around.
The green light on the war was the result of faulty intelligence stovepiped to the congress and the people. Most people would respond favorably if they were told their country was under threat by a foreign power with wmds. Most of us couldn't concieve that any administration would lie through their teeth about to get america into war.
If by blinders you are inferring that I am not open to discussion. You are right. I am not persuaded by anything you say because you are indoctrinated. If you think I am not open to what you say. You are correct. That should make you all warm and fussy inside. For once you are correct.

So then, you are saying that somewhere in that trove of documents released by Wikileaks that there is definitife and reliable information that the claims made by the Bush administration and Ahmed Chalbi and the Blair government and we had to wait to hear it from you here at an obscure farmers talk site?
Have you alerted the NY Times...their reporter Judy Miller would sure like to be vindicated. Or FOX News? They'd dovote hours for days putting Karl Rove on front of a camera telling the world "See. We told you so!".
Were did you pick up on it?

Re: Intrusive government and thank goodness for Farm Bureau
I think he gets much of his info from WorldNet Daily. I looked there and they don't even have it. I'm sure he'll alert them also.
What I did find out about WND though is that they are squabbling with one of the most influencial conservative outfits in the country. Not wingery enough for them, I guess:
