Serious question for Iowa GOO insider.

If octogenarian Grassley declines to run again, who is in the wings to replace him on a GOP ticket?

Is there an heir apparent? Will there be a battle within the party for the spot?

On a light note, is Sorenson out of jail?

Probably the biggest mistake Grassley has made, not grooming a replacement.  He still seems plenty sharp but from experience I've seen people over 75 suddenly go down hill.  

I would vote for him again because I know that if he died they would replace him with somebody that had similar views(I hope).

After his hugely successful run as Ambassador to China you'd think Branstadt would be a lock.

Seems an epic miscalculation there- Iowa has a tendency to elect Governors For Life and now the successor looks vulnerable.

That happens a lot in TrumpWorld.

You’d need to have a RW GOPer in the Governor’s Office for that to happen.  Last time I checked the (fake, of course) polling that droesn’t Look like it will happen.

Chuck`s 35yr old grandson would be the logical choice.  Pat Grassley is a farmer and state representative.  However, calls of "nepotism" and "dynasty" might make it tougher with the Grassley last name.
