Re: Is there anything worth doing

This?

http://www.newsweek.com/2010/10/02/klein-the-case-for-investing-in-infrastructure.html

It should be noted that one of the bigger problems with going forward would actually require a biartisan solution, best driven by CONSERVATIVES:

SNIP:

The problem is that the process by which we choose infrastructure projects is embarrassing. About 10 percent of infrastructure spending comes from earmarks. Most of the rest depends on a formula in which the government just hands money to the states. There’s no requirement for cost-benefit analysis. The decisions are horribly politicized. If taxpayers are making a huge investment in our nation’s infrastructure, then we’re owed an assurance that policymakers are choosing the best projects. That suggests a grand compromise in which more infrastructure money is tied to reforms ensuring a better process for spending that money.

absolutely NOTHING--the way to teach how to handle money is to cut back the funds till they get it right and this regime is spending our grandkids money now ---they are paying more and more of their followers not to work and just breed and it seems to be working

Is there anything the government could do to make you want to let people keep more of their own money?

Ironicly, if they were to do as you and oil can say you'd find out in a heartbeat just how little any of it is worth. If you've been as frugal and fastidious as you portray yourself to be and would have others be also, what you ask for here is prescisely the last thing you should want want.

Ditto on that. Why don't liberals give more to charity? Why do they insist on giving away "our" money , but fighting tooth and nail for theirs? Should I just gladly give to something that wastes money like a central planned nightmare that we have now?

Unfortunately there is one thing; to start paying down the trillions of federal debt.

(I can't wait for someone to say we wont have to after we cut wasteful spending.)

Sure, I've said it on here many times. The gov't needs to pull out of Iraq and Afghanistan completely. Let the "soldiers of fortune" have that sand pit. Maybe use some of the military on the borders with Mexico, but release the rest to civilian activities and stop the military bleeding cash.

Also, the gov't needs to stop all TARP or other named financial help to the troubled institutions in Wall Street and GM. Let them sink or swim like the rest of the small businesses through out America do every day.

Freeze all the rest of gov't spending and offer early retirements to every gov employee to get them off the payroll.

Take a butcher knife to all gov spending programs , not only the farm program, but all programs equally.

Then lets look at how much if any the taxes need to be raised after cutting the US gov't spending.

I see that a lot too.....liberals that advocate a government solution to all social ills tend  to be very stingy with their own charitable works. Joe Biden and his $200 of contributions, and Algove with his $400 come readily to mind.

I think the liberal mindset is that they are going to fight tooth and nail for the government to fund social welfare, and then their conscience will be clear. And then they fight equally hard to not pay taxes, via cash jobs, cash businesses, etc etc.

Taxes are great when you plan for someone else to pay them.
