Re: Is there anything worth doing
"We are besieged by little rural Goldmans."
The co-option schtick that they pull makes a person want to take a shower when you come uon it.
They can pull the Grant Wood, American Gothic, Pa Kettle, "hens pecking in the grass" act out in a heartbeat. The old cows grazing in the meadow scene on the label of the milk carton pipelined from the 5500 cows under roofs dairy trick.
People have been pointing that out, tilting at that windmill as it were, for years. As it grew. As it came to pass. General media understanding of it is lame, as there is still the assumption that farm states and districts are populated by this massive army of agrarian voters, when in reality there are 2 where not so long ago there were 20 or more. As for Ms. Greiner and her ilk, they are definitely becoming better organized....more politcally homogenous and most certainly better tied to the multinational corps that are their suppliers, processors and distributors. Never thought I'd live to see the day when the most prominent voices in ag communities are those who would instinctively rise to defend the Agicultural Industrial Complex.
Do you know whether or not you can get an additional discount on your Monsanto or Dupont seed order ifyou can verify that you stood up for the home office in the coffee shop or at a church picnic?

The only reason righties like to brag about how money they give to charity is because it lowers their taxes. Same reason a whole bunch of farmers drive new pickups, tractors and combines---lowers their tax responsibility. Take that away and their charitable donations would dry up in a heartbeat.

Not to mention the tentacles it had extended out through and intertwined within a greater credit system that was perched on a canyon ledge.

Re: Is there anything worth doing
The previous Vice President, who was on the side of these people when they were simply Bible thumpers and backers of imperialism through neoconservative perpetual war mongers before they all became born again supply side economists and Hayek libertarians reassured us all that the debt "didn't matter", and it was good enough for them at the time.
Then those among the population who didn't like what he said or what he was dragging us into decided to elect a "horse of a different color" and they were found to be easily transitioned.
It would make a great joke were it not all so tragic.

Lol. BTW, some interesting commentary on my favorite company. They were a-holes even before RR. Being cheap, I like free jackets, hats etc. but refuse to wear anthing with a corporate logo on it.

Big ag is a topic that I've been pretty moderate on until pretty recently- mostly because I was kinda sorta playing the same game just not with the kind of ruthlessness (the snarkers will say efficiency) that it really requires to play. So mea culpa, schadenfreude, whatever.
But the thing that really did tear it for me is listening to acquantances and posters here defend to the death their subsidies, the ethanol policy, death taxes etc. without the slightest interest in listening to an opposing point of view. All the while complaining about da gobmint.
We are in need of a depression although the the efficiency with which the major interests can change gears and get the great white "disenfanchised" masses out to march in favor of their agenda has to frighten you.
The greatest challenge to the American experiment since the Civil War. Could be that we the people have alredy lost, but what the heck.

And my peeps are as responsible for the loss of the republic as any?
Whether one likes them or not, it certainly wasn't ACORN, the NBPs or illegals that put Goldman and all the TBTF interests in charge.

You must be dumb enough to believe in what your saying. I give because of the God I believe in. You don't give because you believe in nothing but yourself. Yeah boy that big tax break I get really cuts down on my taxes!
