It was just empty rhetoric folks

WASHINGTON – A sharply divided federal appeals court on Wednesday dismissed a lawsuit involving the Central Intelligence Agency’s practice of seizing terrorism suspects and transferring them to other countries for imprisonment and interrogation. The ruling handed a major victory to the Obama administration in its effort to advance a sweeping view of executive secrecy power.....................................

The decision bolstered an array of ways in which the Obama administration has pressed forward with broad counter-terrorism policies after taking over from the Bush team, a degree of continuity that has departed from the expectations fostered by President Obama’s campaign rhetoric, which was often sharply critical of President Bush’s approach.

If it was good for the goose it's good for the gander.

More evidence, actually, of the power of the permanent government. Any progress in an direction either party would like to move is generally not much more than mere concession.

If that's what you want to call the truth that's fine with me. But it is how it works.

Which only proves what I've said continuously- the Obama is a center left democrat and well vetted as to willingness to go along with the onging projects.

That only makes the whole "muslim, socialist, whatever" thing all the more laughable, and troubling. I wonder what people would be saying about Dennis Kucinich? Probably a bit less, relative to truth, I'm guessing.

I really don't see the majority of candidates, or people loosely assembled under the TP banner, as being particularly amicable toward the civil liberties question, at least the police/security state side of it. Perhaps they are from an anti-tax, regulation point of view.

The thinking, I suppose, is that since they regard themselves as upright citizens, "what do you have to worry about if you're not doing anything wrong?"

And by the way, you don't think **bleep** Cheney leading the accusations after a kid on a plane blew off a firecracker in his shorts has any impact on all of this, do you?

Lol.

Apparently you must refer to Mr. Cheney as Richard, the system bleeps the diminutive.
