Re: It was just empty rhetoric folks

Not comprehending here Sam. Sorry.

Obama has proven to be completely powerless. Shackled and nuetered. It was probably naive on his part to think he could work through it, and naive of the Americans who thought  about that and voted for him in the primaries and caucuses. The insurance/health care reform was the Dem Congress's baby...they'd wanted it for long before the thought of Obama being President had ever come up. And thanks to the barriers that exist it's pretty much crap...a thin shell of what it should have been.

Hillary's natural connections and the family tradition would have probably seen to even more public liability for corporate and financial industry shortfalls. Likely much more. But it would have been a power move and not so much such a sickly process as it has been with BHO and the Democratic Congress. All he's really doing is trying not to be Hoover, all the while that's who Wall Street and Madison Avenue and the industrialists insist that he be.

He's actually being quite the trooper...keeping a calm and relatively unpanicked face on a grim situation.

Looks like we are going to see what Boehner and Pence can come up with to get around the deeply footed barriers to egalitarian prosperity. As if they care, or  would or could if they did.

BTW I'm getting quite a chuckle over your new found faith in the working potential of government.

Maybe its naive on your part to think he is not doing exactly what he wants to be doing.

Re: It was just empty rhetoric folks

Comig around full circle, are we?

The realistic view would be that he is doing some less than allowed in order to not be seen as too "pushy" (uppity, that would be in wingerspeak). I can't imagine that there is anyone more acutely aware of the implied limitiations than he is himself.  Too good of a quality human being to go ape#### over it, knowing that nothing would be gained from that.

You should be glad that he's only doing what he is, which is lttle or nothing compared to what was expected by his supporters. You'd be apoplectic if he'd not had Rahm and Timmy and Ben around to bring him the messages. Of course if he hadn't and would rather have been better staffed, somebody out there on the Beltway would have had him booked for a parade in Dallas by now.
