Re: JOB Compete

How many jobs will be displaced?  How many Tennessee jobs will be lost?

Is the tax handout worth what may turn out to be 500 jobs at $55k pe year.  Most of this work will be done robotically.

The products their selling will be mostly manufactured in China and so will the recruits and robotics filling those jobs.

Open borders.

A company that goes largely untaxed in the US.  Why do they need large financial gifts to locate in a community.

Re: JOB Compete

All these hotshots like Jeff Bezos and Elon Musk are more expert in "working with governments" to gain advantage in the marketplace as they are in the inventing and innovating.  I suppose if through Tifs and such a company can deliver 5,000,  $150,000/yr jobs there would be many $25,000/yr jobs spawned from that in construction, car salesmen, home improvement employment ect.   That`s the thought anyway and deals with the devil have to be made.

Some  what  similar  to  the  ''' sales  tax  exemptions '''' we  have  in  place  for  certain  items  of  our  own  states  governments   -  -   -

Enterprise  zones,   aka  - rural  incentive gimmicks, etc.  etc.  ,   -  seems  the  90 mile / hour  down  a  dead  end  street  has  somewhat  increased  inertia  - maybe  ?

Re: JOB Compete

We just buy items off Amazon that aren`t available locally, like if you can show me where to get Aunt Jemima WHOLE WHEAT pancake mix I will gladly buy it out of the store, but Target, Hy-Vee, Fareway, Costco, not even wallyworld carries Aunt Jemima WHOLE WHEAT pancake mix anymore...but Amazon does.

https://community.agriculture.com/t5/Farm-Business/quot-You-guys-are-buying-groceries-on-Amazon-now-...

I don`t do the actual ordering the Wife does, but Amazon has you being a "prime member" for free shipping and that entices you into buying more, more, more.   And then there`s the whole "if they are shipping a pancake mix, I might as well also get...…..".

But I`m just old enough to remember the big box stores knocking out the mom&pop small town stores and we cried.   Now the internet is knocking out the big box stores....I don`t think I can cry even if I pull a hair out of my nose.   But states and local communities so want the so-called good jobs from Amazon, they give away taxpayer money with the idea that it`ll pay off down the road, we`ll see.  but I do know, these cutthroat businesses didn`t get where they are by being loyal or caring for anyone other than themselves.   Oh sure store clerks guilt you into donating a buck to crippled kids or whatever and their store gets the photo-op credit for your donation, but other than that, they don`t care squat about the community.

Never thought I'd reach the day when I yearned for the old local walmart.

Where will the amazon customers find jobs.
